As an alternative to just resetting the counter, you should also look at replacing/Cleaning the waste ink pads in the base of the machine. If it has done a lot oc heads cleans etc the pads could be close to full as they are not very large on the CX models. Head over to http://www.TheServiceManualShop.com and download their CX3200 Rescue Kit. It includes the PROPER Epson reset tool and instructions on how to clean the waste pads so they don't flood your desk with copious amounts of old ink! I think you can find similar at http://mikeburton.tradebit.com/ but it may take a bit more to find it. Regards Inky

This link will take you to a download page for a utility that will allow you to reset the waste ink counter and so forth. Keep in mind that if you ignore this warning and continue printing your printer might start leaking ink and other weird behaviour. http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml Ater installation, you'll see the icon in the tray beside the system clock. Right click on the icon then go to reset counters->Reset All counters. That should do the trick. Hope this helps, Regards Armando

If reset all doesn't work try going to protection counter -> Reset protection Counter!

Parts inside in my printer are near the end of their service life

A Service Error where you get a message telling you that "Parts inside your printer at the end of their service life, contact your dealer for replacement", or "Parts inside your printer require maintenance or replacement, call your service company", is normally a Maintenance Request Error. The maintenance request error is actually a Waste Ink Ink Pad Error and usually your remedy is:

1. Replace the Waste Ink Pad/Pads with a new one/ones (many people ignore this one, and they just follow #2)
2) Reset the Internal Waste Ink Pad Counter by using SSC Utility

Download from this site http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml and follow instructions.

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa!

ERROR MESSAGE EPSON 925

Epson programmed their printer to monitor the waste ink counter and your printer has reached the maximum value allowed, you have to reset your printer to clear the waste ink counter.

You may read the information regarding "end of life" and "waste ink counter" here: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp

To reset the counter, download re-setter program here, install and follow the instruction in the web site.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Epson R200 printer error, Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. See your printer documentation.

A Service Error where you get a message telling you that "Parts inside your printer at the end of their service life, contact your dealer for replacement", or "Parts inside your printer require maintenance or replacement, call your service company", is normally a Maintenance Request Error. The maintenance request error is actually a Waste Ink Ink Pad Error and usually your remedy is to replace the Waste Ink Pad/Pads with a new one/ones and then reset the Internal Waste Ink Pad Counter. If you just reset the counter and don't replace the pads, then your printers old pads will eventually overflow and normally start leaking ink out the bottom of your printer. Some people actually wash the ink out of the old pads, by holding them under running cold water. Then they simply dry them out and reinstall them back into their printer. The choice on what to actually do, is yours to make. I would at least recommend getting that Waste Ink Counter reset procedure and performing it first, to make sure your printer will then work.

Try this reset app

Service required error

Ok.. aside from the fact that you've posted under the R300 Epson model thread you're still in luck.

The CX6600 has been documented (by me admittedly) with a complete guide to fitting an external tank and resetting the waste ink counter in the printer.

Just to note: This is a commercial site but the information provided is generic and will help you fix the problem.

Error - printer part are at the end of service life, see printing

I have had a R300 for a while now and had a few cartridges in it. Recently a message came up on the screen 'parts inside your printer are at the end of their life' and the printer refused to work!
After searching the web it appears to be a waste ink counter, but I could not find any info on resetting it.
So I tried pressing different combinations of buttons on the printer and success.

Press and hold 'stop' 'maintenance' and 'power' buttons for about 10 seconds, a message will come on the screen saying counter is reset and to turn off.

Thats it turned my printer back on and all works fine again.

I hope this helps R300 owners out!

Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. Contact your dealer for replacement.

The link Eagle tech has posted is no use to a CX3200 owner. The error is an ink overflow protection error and is fairly easy to rectify. You need to clean the waste ink pads in the bottom of the printer and then use some software to reset the internal counter. You can download all this stuff from the link below:

http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/2725149-cx3200-rescue-kit-zip

A waste ink tank, does not stop the ink counter incrementing each time ink is used. The only money it will save you is from having to replace the ink pads - which you can wash out and reuse anyway.
