Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

My pc doesnt recognise my865 dvr

The fact of the matter is that your vivitar comes with software that works with your computer. Supposing that you have the normal windows operating system, then you should be able to have your camcorder recognised. You must have the Snap and Share video pro and Video Express that comes with it. On connecting you camcorder the computer should recognise it if it does not then the cable you are using could be the problem if you already changed the cable then the usb socket on the camcorder could be damaged. If your cable and camcorder socket are ok then you could use a USB card reader to transfer your video to the computer.

Hi how do i upload pictures from my samsung D1070 camera onto my laptop, it used to come up on the screen when i set up usb connection, with prompts now it doesnt, any ideas please

Using a USB lead, you shouldn't need a driver or other software. The computer can recognise the camera memory as a removable drive without actually recognising the camera as a camera. Try looking in "My Computer" for an extra drive (Under "Devices with Removable Storage") and opening that. There should be directories with picture files in them that you can drag to your desktop. If you can't find this, perhaps there is an issue with the cable connection.

Many people find it more convenient to just take the memory card out of the computer and put it in a card reader, especially now that these readers are built into computers and printers. You can't get the pics from the camera's internal memory that way though.

Your pc is not recognising the camera or the memory inside it. Try connecting it with sony pc suit. Make sure the pc recognises the camera as a new device before proceeding.
