I have a Sony KP-57WS500 Projection TV about 7 years old. The picture has developed shadows and has blue and yellow lines and hues running through it. I was told it could be an alignment problem. If so, what is the solution?

The tv problems is call a convergence picture problems,it is just starting to developing. This problems when it is fully developing into a convergence picture problems to the tv eventually.Tv will develope into a colors lines R,G,B mis alignments, have a colors shadow pictures or into a picture 3D look alike.Eventually the tv convergence board will dies, have to have it parts replaced like 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too. This problems the tvs shops will cost u like $300-350 for parts and lobors.
No,U have solderwicks?U can buy it,in any Radio Shack store.Use solder iron on top of the solderwicks to soap up the solders out ICS pins.Replaced the ICS use any kind solders just resoders ICS back to the heatsink.Tries Websites Tv repair World.com,Tv repairkits.com to buy a complete convergence kit.
Is your TV near anything magnetic ? This causes picture issues. If the thing is a tube TV then you can fix this fault with a magnet. Call 0845 20 20 118 for help
My tv too had a blue screen problem. Then it started to shut down after staying on for less than a minute. I thought that I would with a huge repair bill but I followed the directions at this link: http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html and now my tv works perfectly.
Same issue. Adjusting the colors does not help. It seems like an alignment issue
