Sansa e260 does not recognize computer when connected with USB. Plus, under settings, there is not option to change USB setting (MSC or MTP), only FORMAT. Any recommendations? Thank you.

Unplug the Sansa from the computer. Turn it off. Hold in the REC button. Reconnect the Sansa to the computer while holding in the REC button. After 10-15 seconds of continuing to hold in the REC button, a window should pop up saying "Found New Hardware Wizard." Complete the Wizard.

Sansa
Not Recognized: Try connecting it to the back of your computer or another computer the back straight
to the motherboard this should be USB 2.0 and see if it will recognize
it as sansa or Drive/removable drive. if it does then download the sansa
update software
and install it. Make sure you disconnect the sansa and connect it when
asked. This will update your sansas firmware and add the Usb Mode. Try
to connect it to your computer at home it should recognize.... link for
update software

download to a flash drive much easier. Make sure USB mode is MSC Recovery Mode may also allow your computer to recognize the sansa lock
your sansa hold in the rec key on the left at the same time push the
menu/power button this will take you to recovery mode then connect to
the computer Start the update software when finished disconnect.... Sync to upload songs to the sansa......Hope this works
The player automatically connects to the computer in Media Transfer Protocol mode (MTP mode).
For accessing the microSD card in the player, the USB connection in the player has to be set to MSC mode, see: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/167
"Connect your player, of course. Go to "My Computer" > "Sansa e260".
There are hidden files. To unhide go to "Tools" (located on the menu
bar) > "Folder Options..." > hit the "View" tab > select "Show
hidden files and folders". You will see more folders to appear in a
faded color. Click on the "MUSIC" folder. Click on the artist, then
album then select the song, right click and down to delete." --Yahoo Answers
On your Sansa Go to "Settings" then "System Settings" then "USB Mode," change it to MSC, now try connecting it. If that doesn't work try the other modes just in case.
Hope this helps!
Make sure USB mode is MSC....If this doesn't work make sure that you are connected to a 2.0 USB port....I had to install the update on to my labtop and finally it recognized it and updated.... Download Update if you haven't yet(http://mp3support.sandisk.com/sansa/Installer/1082/SansaUpdaterInstall.exe) Then connect to your computer and see if it works Hope it does..........Please rate

i have the same SANSA e260.....and the same problem....its easy just turn on your sansa then push the menu botton, slide the wheel in the center and at the end of the options say USB enter there and change usb mode from MTP to MSC mode.....and ready
I agree with the above suggestion. Try setting the USB Mode under "Settings" on "MSC" on the Sansa. My computer would not recognize the e260 when the mode was set to "MTP"; works fine on "MSC".
