Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

turn it off turn it over and clean the fan on the bottom. I use a Satellite a25. I have used air to blow out the cooling coils a nunber of times. Toshiba has picuten in the owners manual on how to remove the fan for cleaning. it picks up dust from the work area and does not blow it clear. this cause it to over heat most likely

SOURCE: Laptop monitor goes black

If you're working on the computer when that happens, it's not probably a power setting. Try to update your BIOS to the most current version at the toshiba support website (support.toshiba.com) & see what happens. Fixes the issue most of the time

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite A100 LE4000 Turns Off Randomly

there must be still a problem with your current cooling system. try cleaning up your laptops fan. cpu gets heated up very easily even if you turned it off for a while. you can do this by unscrewing the parts, the inside must be pretty dusty or something. this also happened to me but from a different unit.

also, try checking for the latest bios driver for your laptop and to be sure, download it on toshiba site itself. because latest drivers for your bios also manages the control of your cpu fans.

if you could also get access to your systems cooling options in bios, try checking if your cpu's temperature are doing fine.

but i prefer you cleaning up the inside fans as well. hope this helps.

SOURCE: My Toshiba laptop keeps turning off randomly?

I had this problem for a LOONNGG time. I couldnt figure out what the heck was going on or why it was overheating. I almost resorted to buying a new computer, but thankfully I didnt. About 1am this morning it did it to me again. So i decided to clean the bottom and make sure it was clean. I cleaned it, and just out of curiousity, took apart the exhaust fan housing, and O. M. G. was there a TON of dust and junk in there. It took me about 45 minutes to clean it out thuroughly because I am not very computer savy when it comes to taking them apart and putting them back together correctly. But I would be my paycheck that if you took of your exaust fan housing, and then the individual covers for the fan and inspected the fans, and the exhaust ports themselves, you will find your problem. Since i cleaned it, it hasnt turned off once and the fans hardly run at all! I hope this helps guys!

What kind of bios battery is in a toshiba satellite l655d notebook

It appears to be a standard "coin" lithium battery easily obtainable. However, it is not easy to replace. You can find replacement directions here - http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-L655-L655D-L650-L650D/laptop-disassembly-guide-1.htm

Try moving the arc mouse USB dongle to another USB port on your Toshiba Satellite L650. If the mouse works on the other port, then the first port is the problem. Use Control Panel's Device Manager to further diagnose the port problem.

How do I replace the keyboard?

next to the F1 key and the windows key (2nd upper key and second to last key) are two screws, usually under some covering. unscrew and lift top edge of the keyboard towards the trackpad to lay face down. Undo the wire ribbon by lifting the grey or brown tabs and remove ribbon and keyboard. Then install the new keyboard by inserting the ribbon on the place. Lock down with the tabs and put the plastic prongs (close to the space bar) into the laptop body first, and then close keyboard onto the final position. screw back in and thats all. My toshiba satellite p200 keeps turning off randomly.

Hi,

Often this indicates that the battery is nearing its end of life. Even when plug and using the AC adapter/charger, this would occur if the electrical consumption is always at its peak. Noticeable is especially when the built-in WiFi card is in use.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
