Motor needed the motor on my machine has stopped working, it blew up whilst trying to fill a bobbin, well made a popping noise and emitted smoke then stopped working. Although it is 30 yrs old, it has been used infrequently so is still in excellent condition.

You might be able to clean it and get it to work again. Take it out of the machine and make sure you know where the parts/washers, etc came from. You'll need to clean away any gunk from both ends and use a very fine grit sand paper to clean the armature commutator to a bright shine again. (90%) of the problems you've described are from a dirty commutator.

here's a nicely written tutorial on how do do this.

SOURCE: bobbin thread gets bunched up and loud clicking sound

The problem is never the bobbin when you have this problem. It's the top thread. Take the thread off the top of the machine and rethread the top. Make sure the small tension dial is on 4 or 5 (the larger dial on the front left is for the pressure on the foot, not the thread tension.) After you thread the machine, put the pressure foot down but NOT on the thread. Then pull gently toward the back of the machine. When you do, the needle should bend slightly backwards before the thread comes through the machine. If it pulls with no resistance you could simply have "fluff" or remants of thread between your tension discs. If you do, put the dial on zero and using an old needle, clean between the discs and try threading the machine again with the "pull test" I described earlier.
No tension on the top of the machine, lets the bobbin tension win and it pulls all the thread to the bottom of the fabric.

SOURCE: Kenmore 158.1703 sewing machine - needle not going up and down

The machine sounds like it has threads caught in the bobbin area thus locking the machine up. Check in there and maybe you can pick them out with tweezers. They may need to be 'softened up' with a little oil before you can get them out!. also Please push the bobbin winder back to the left position and it will release the bobbin winder. Then you should be able to sew. If the needle won't move, you will need to tighten the turning wheel on the right side end of the machine. This should move your needle. Then you should be set to sew.
------This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

SOURCE: My machine will not thread any bobbins.

Your bobbin winder has seized. Remove the top cover and oil the area where the bobbin winder shaft goes through the bobbin winder assembly. You might need to force the winder to turn with your fingers for a while, but it will begin to turn smoothly once the oil gets in there.

If the black bobbin winder tire has a flat spot worn into it, you will need a new bobbin winder tire. Costs around a dollar.

Bobbin won't wind/fill. Post does not spin

Pop an empty bobbin on the thread spool. You need to disengage the motor from the presser foot so that the motor no longer makes the presser foot go up and down, but sends the power to wind a bobbin on the thread spool. Check with your machine's manual, but this is usually done be either pushing in, or popping out a button on the hand wheel. Begin a new thread on the bobbin following the directions either from your manual or as printed on the machine. On my Bernina, I have to push the thread spindle sideways to engage the bobbin winder. Use your foot pedal now and the bobbin will automatically fill up. It should stop when full, then you reverse your actions. eg: push the thread spool back, pop in the button on your hand wheel, insert the bobbin (check with your user manual as to clockwise-anticlockwise, and yes it DOES make a difference!) Re-thread your machine (always with the presser foot up) and make a test stich.
I hope this helps and happy sewing.

Sewing machine stops sewing

what type of sewing machine do you have, and have you tried turning it off, then switching back to the sewing position. you may need service, or an external bobbin winder.

Screeching noise

have you tried a new needle--flat side to the back of the machine
check to see if the thread has come off the thread take up lever
it's also possible that there's something wrong with the motor since it sounds a bit loud
it probably needs to be serviced

The bobbin thread nested underneath, tried to stop

Have you turned it back on once the machine has cooled down? If you have, and it still makes noise and won't stitch then I think the motor is damaged and you need to take it for repair. Does it do ordinary sewing or is the motor completely uncooperative?
Meantime, take the bobbin assembly apart and clean it out - ask for more instructions if you don't know how to do this. Be sure both the top thread and bobbin threads are threaded correctly and clicked into their respective tensions. Did you "park" the embroidery unit before turning the machine off? You need to do this, if the machine will do it that is.
You will need to take the machine in to be checked even if you do get it working. Any major problem with nesting - did you break needles too? - almost certainly will have put your needle assembly out - it will need re-centering.

When you press the pad, the needle did not up and down. but the motor is running.

Your machine is in 'bobbin fill mode' - the needle mechanism is deactivated for safety when using the machine to fill a bobbin.
Turn the centre section of the handwheel on the right hand end of the machine clockwise whilst holding the outer section in place. You should feel it tighten. When it is fully tightened, both the centre and outer sections should rotate together when either the pedal is pressed or the wheel is turned by hand. The needle will be going up and down again now.
Hope that helps!

Filling the bobbin with my Juki DDL-5550-6

It's actually designed that way on purpose so you can wind a bobbin while sewing. If you lift the presser foot, at least it'll make less noise in the process.

Machine No. K1831(256) No.28 how do you set up the stop motion wheel to wind bobbins. It either winds bobbins whilst sewing or just free wheels. I think there must be a way of adjusting this action....

Elna 6003 just stopped working

Something caught inside the machine and jammed the mechanism. It blew a fuse to protect the circuit board. A competent Elna or Janome Dealer should be able to get you machine going in no time.I don't know of any reason to have trouble finding parts for this machine.
