Question about Sony KP-57HW40 57" Rear Projection Television
I have a 4-5 year old Sony KP-57HW40 57 in. Rear Projection Television. The TV suddenly developed a concave picture (i.e., the picture looks "bent" or caved inward), and there is some serious rainbow effect at the left and right edges of the screen. It happens with any input source (cable, DVD, XBOX). I checked the automatic convergence on the TV, and it is converged properly. What might be wrong? If it needs a repair, roughly how much would it cost? I am trying to sell the TV and get some money out of it, but I am not sure if I should repair it to get a little extra money or sell it as is at a lower price. Thanks.
IF IC1606 AND IC1608 ARE THE CONVERGENCE ICS, IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. STK 392-560 AND ALL THE 100 uf CAPS WERE REPLACED. THE GREEN CONVERGENCE IS CONCAVE RADICALLY ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM, LIKE A HOURGLASS. LOOKS LIKE THE GREEN CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT IS NOT FUNCTIONING. NEED SCHEMATIC TO GET ON SCREEN ADJUSTMENT CODES, TO SEE IF IT WILL ADJUST OUT? GEORGE ACE TV CENTER HENDERSON, NV 702 382-2340
