I have the timing chain, gears, guides replace yesterday. Drove the Camry home to Atlanta. Upon arriving home, i cut the car off to unload, upon finishing, i got in to crank the car and pull it into the garage. Their is no electrical power, no lights, can not get the car out of park, nothing works.
Check your battery leads and make sure you have good clean connection first. If that doesn't solve the problem, start looking for wires that may have been misplaced during the work on your car and see if you can spot any melted wires. Also, check all connections on your altermator and battery status. One of these should lead you to the problem.
Have you tested the battery? may not have charged during your trip home.
SOURCE: car won't go in reverse
If the vehcile is V6,then the trans model is the A540E,and if it is the 4 cylinder engine, the trans model is an A140E.Both are 4 speed overdrive transmissions, and sorry to report that on just abot every automatic trans on the road, reverse gear failure is almost always a mechanical problem inside the transmission because there are no shift solenoids involved with reverse as with forward gears. And you did say the forward gears were fine.Good luck.

This is a Direct Fault Caused by the Alarm System Starter Kill. Do you have an Alarm Override Switch???? You may need the Dealership to Reset the Alarm if not.

the computer system that runs the car itself has a Vehicle Theft Deterrent Module build into the OBD II operating system that runs the ignition timing everything. It does make it neearly impossible to steal the car, only one draw back the Dealer is the only place you can get it serviced.
SOURCE: 1990 Toyota Camry Check Engine light problem.
The CEL means that the car's computer has detected an error in one of the car's systems. For cars of model years 1996 and later there is a standard connector in the car and you can hook up an OBD-2 code scanner to read the error code from the car's computer. However, for cars sold before 1996, there is no standard, so your best bet is to take the car to a mechanic who has experience with your make and model.
One thing you can try, to turn the light off, is disconnect your car's battery terminals for a few minutes. The CEL should be off when you restart the car. If the CEL stays off, then you're ok, because it may have come on due to a temporary condition somehow related to your parking brake, and the condition is resolved. However, if the CEL stays on or comes back on, this means you have a "hard" error code that definitely needs to be checked out.
In my opinion, although it is possible that the CEL and the parking brake are related, most likely it is just a coincidence that the CEL came on shortly afterward, and there is another cause for the CEL, that should be investigated.
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.
