hi same problem - shutter wont open??

  • niftyniall Jan 20, 2008

Shutter did not open, needed to be manually opened. Upon closer inspection a very small spring had broken, just behind the lens protective shutter, upon carefully removing it, the camera now opens but not as full as before, still works fine. The wire is the size of thick hair, a problem waiting to happen. It appears that there is two springs, and plastic ones associated with the cover itself. It appears to be very difficult to take apart this camera, to get to the problem area.

I have had the camera for just over a year and the shutter does not open automatically. I am able to open it manually but wonder if there is a more premanent fix and how much it would cost.

Hello, just recently ran into the same problem. What is the best way to get spring out of there. Slight manual pressure isn't working.

Camera lens shutter does NOT OPEN!

Seriously this is not worth payi.g to fix unless you paid serious money for the camera. The shutter is also mechanixally tripped by the shutter button. Its a electrical charge that connects to the processing chip inside.

How to disassemble lens on a casio exilim ex-z75

Jim, I really wouldn't recommend this. It requires extreme patience and meticulous parts tracking. Note that junctions stated: "It's really hard to take apart,", and he ain't kidding.
Really recommend that you return to the remedies that you had been trying. Sometimes it requires many repeated tries to free the gunk from the shutter. I've found that for the smaller pocket cameras that the most effective solution seems to be extending the lens and tapping around the lens barrel with a pen/pencil. Then alternately opening the battery door with the camera turned on (no need to play with shutter modes). Then just alternate with tapping, battery door, tapping, battery door, and keep doing this until the shutter opens/closes. Once this happens, set the camera to continuous shutter mode and snap off about 100 pictures to final lubricate the shutter.Good Luck,t00nz aka CR

My samsung BL103 camera takes good pics inside but ot outside. how do i fix

First make sure that you are in "Automatic" mode, and not in one of the camera's othe manual modes which may keep the shutter open for an extended period. But if you are indeed in auto mode, and it's still doing this, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Lens will not extend

Hi:

You need to clean around the lense first. Blow high pressure air spray and get the most sand out of the lense you possibly can.

If it did not open 100%, try to pull it out NOT too hard. If the lese goes up and down and turns you should follow the lense while pulling it out.

When it is 100% out, (the way normally opens) Clean around the lense more.

Turn you camera on and off a few times. It should be back to normal.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
