Hello. i need help with my family printer. everytime i try and feed paper through, it gets snagged against a plastic thing at the back. i can see the obstruction, it looks like some sort of black spacer, possibly used for adjusting for paper thicknesses, which if you loook at it from the back with the door open, has an arm which goes into the body on the left. the paper catches as it is fed through, resulting in a small tear, approx 35mm from the right hand side of the page at the leading edge. its doing my nut in. the printer worked fine before, then we started printing photos, and now its doing this and wont print anything. any help would be greatly appreciated. john sorry if i got a little too technical for some people there. :-)
I had the same paper feed problem with a psc 2355, from the day I bought it. As far as I can tell, the problem at the back of the printer is that the paper arrives with a steep angle against guides, which blocks the sheets. I managed to circumvent this problem by placing a thick paper sheet underneath other paper sheets, after bending the thick paper sheet upwards on the first 1-2 cm. hope this helps. Emmanuel.

Turn the printer over and undo the screw on the small panel on the rear left hand corner(as viewed from the rear) you need a torx driver for this screw (you may find an appropriate size flat blade driver might grip enough to turn it) inside is a L shaped lever, just lift it out slightly and rotate it anticlockwise until the plastic piece thats causing the obstruction is as far to the rear of the printer as possible, push it back in and replace the cover and screw. I hope this makes sense and works for you.

You may try to use a q-tip and some alcohol to clean the black tab[roller] it may be that a sticky substance has found it way on there, and the cleaning of may fix your problem, i hope this helps

ok. i have tried the alcohol method, with a little success. the main feed wheel on the right hand side (from front) started to pick up the pages and pass them through ok, then stopped picking them up altogether. just spinning on the paper, and leaving a skid mark. then the odd one it took through still hit the old black lever thing, causing the little tear, and registering it as a paper jam.
the plot thickens. i'll try peterjm's method tonight, cos taking things to bits is always fun, and i'll report back.
cheers everyone.
my mother has seen a 25quid printer in the postoffice which she thinks will be the same and is planning on chucking the hp. help save this printer!
