My hp pavillion dv1000 has a problem with the built in mic, it doesn't work and crackles when you open and shut the screen it crackles, you can sometimes get it to work if the screen is in the right angle but not very well, do you think i need to get the cable and mic replaced? i think it might just be the cable in the laptop if thats so any idea what sort of price in £ i'll be looking at? thanks marlene.
Marlene, Yes, it sounds like the mike cable has gone bad. I have no idea what the repair would cost over there. If you were to take it to a repair shop, they should be able to give you an estimate of how much it would cost. I wouldn't think that they would charge you for the estimate. Hope this information helps. Ron

thats a trojan or virus in your laptop,i suggest u format or boot from cd/dvd rom with a compatible operating system disk(WIN7/XP/VISTA/2000),THEN U DO system repair..THAT IS IF U HAVE ANY IDEA ABOUT IT,IF NOT,TAKE IT TO UR REPIARMAN
Hi,
As to my own surprise: no. This laptop doesn't have a built-in microphone, though it does have a microphone connection. You can buy a cheap mic and plug it into the mic jack.
Cheers,
Ed
Hi,
Ur laptop getting viruses.Better to install any Antivirus software and Scan once in a week.If u want audio drivers then go to this website www.hp.com.
There u click on chatting session and download the any drivers.
if it's a built in, you need to right click on the speaker icon on the right of your taskbar, click open volume control and then a window will pop up with volume sliders, check that the mic is listed there if not click options, advanced controls and make sure it is not muted and the slider is all the way up.
If you click advanced under the mic slider the option to tick mic boost appears.
