Sony PS2 discs that were previously used with memory card will not read. other games with no memory work fine. Discs are spinning but browser says disc could not be read.

Is that the only disc you seem to be having the problem with?? If so try getting the disc repair kit and using that. I had the same problem with mine but it was only some of the discs. The ps2 slim can be very sensitive and even the slightest defect in a disc will cause it not to recognize there is even a disc there.

did you try reading the memory card without any game discs put in via the ps2 menu?

is your memory card working properly? could be a corrupted memory card or a faulty memory card slot.
try putting a friend's memory card on that same slot.
if it works... then your memory card is gone bad...
if it doesnt work...then your memory card slot has gone bad.

else try putting your memory card in your friend's ps2, see if that ps2 reads your memory card. if it does...then your memory card slot has gone bad.

its broken bcuz u probly dropped or roughed it buy a new 1

th game must be scrated badly and your system wont read the disc but cool story dood

Sony machines have notoriously bad lasers. I find that with the slim if you have a small amount of nail polish remover on a cotton bud and dab the laser (whilst off and without touching the laser) that does the trick

This is optical lens assembly failure. you will need to replace this failed assembly in order to restore the normal functions.

Contact Sony for this repair.

You damaged the laser eye diode that reads discs. It is not worth a repair. Ps2 slims cost $99 now

You can buy new DVD pickups online for about 15-20 It will take a very small phillips screwdriver and needlenose pliers to change out the old one

Hi Willhayes79, Test to see if the PS2 will read any Discs it is supposed to read. Try CD, CDR, PS1, PS2 Blue, PS2 silver, DVD. It might read something. To repair open the case, and clean everything in sight. Dust is your enemy. ?When you get to the lens, Use a Q-tip lightly damped with Rubbing Alcohol to swab the lens clean. Then dry it. You may have to completely disassemble the PS2 all the way to get all the dust. I believe Dust is shorting out your disc drive spindle.
