TV/VCR seems to be dead

We have a Zenith TVBR1342Z / TVBR1942Z (that's what it says on the manual!!) and we can't get it to turn on using the on-off button on the set or via the remote control..... It is making a beeping sound that does not go away when we unplug/replug it in.... Any ideas??? My wife thinks she pushed the wrong button on the remote before this started....

Sounds like it may be tripping line output transistor gone, due to dry joints on the base driver transformer, just check if you have a red light at front and its constant or pulsing

The remote stopped working. The TV is functional, even the VCR. How can I get a replacement remote? The TV model # is TVBR1342Z / TVBR1942Z

A Synergy V Universal Remote which is supplied by some cable companies like Time Warner, RCN etc. You can also buy this remote. This remote does a good job of controlling all my different components including my LG TV, Bose Sound and Cable Box.
This pdf seems to be best reference.
but there a several others out there if you google for Synergy V.

I don't have any combo units but there seems to be references to these types of devices so you may have some luck with this device which is one of the least expensive universal remote control devices that I've come across.

Need remote code for Zenith tv model no tvbr1942z

I got code 21479 to control power and channel up/down but it won't manage volume. That code also pulls up the menu for the TV too. Could not determine VCR compatibility since the VCR died ages ago.

My Zenith VCR is not working with the digital converter box

When the VCR is "off" the converter signal should go right through the box, which you say it does. Then, when you turn the VCR "on" the picture disappears. That, so far, how it should be. To get your picture back while the VCR is "on" you must set the VCR to "receive" channel 3, and use your new converter box to change channels...accordianman
