3g sim card slot

Dears .. good morning. i have a problem here , this Laptop has the 3G sim card slot , , i insert it .. but nothing happend .. please can you tell me how to activate th e internet connection through this sim card.? many thanks in advance maher amman / Jordan

Hello,

the sim card should be inserted in the USB drave to connect ,then instal it normally is autoinstal the should work.

    The Acer Aspire One sold through ATT wireless stores has a SIMcard slot under the battery. The person was asking about activating the feature through the OS. The answer is not applicable to the original question.

There is software available to download from the Acer website. Go to http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers and download both items with "3g" in the title. UnZip the files into a folder, and then run the setup.exe program for both. Restart the machine, and the click the icon on your desktop, which should now exist. The program will say, "device detected" and "wait while activating" or something similar. If the SIM card registers on the tower and there is an existing A.T.T. account associated with it, then there should be no problem. Otherwise you should probably contact A.T.T. support. They may have a newer or different program to download and install.

I would turn machine completely off remove the battery unplug it them push the power button hold for 2-3 seconds to discharge, place the battery back in plug it back in and restart the computer without the card inserted. Once the computer settles in then retry inserting the card again. If that does not work re-install the driver again with the disc that came with your sim card. If you do not have the driver you can retrieve a download copy at the support and downloads and drivers area of the 3g sim card site. There should be a web address available on the card possibly.
Call tech support for the card if all else fails they will walk you through it. John

The SIM card holder is there to support an OPTIONAL 3G wireless broadband card: it is not a standard feature and setup will depend on the brand of internal 3G broadband card that is installed.

Compatible internal 3G mini-card may be quite expensive and using an external device (such as Pocket Wifi which is a 'MIFI' device which can conveniently be connected to your PC/Laptop via a secure Wifi connection) might be a better alternative.

How to insert sim card in iphone 3g
Turn off your iPhone 3G and make sure any cords or connector cables are removed from the device. Then, hold your iPhone 3G upright.
  • Locate the Sleep/Wake button and headphone jack on the very top of the iPhone. Between these two components you will see a very small hole.
  • Insert the tip of a paper clip into the hole to release the iPhone's SIM card tray. The small tray will pop up relatively quickly from the top of the iPhone. If there is already a SIM card in the tray, use your fingers to remove it.
  • Insert the SIM card you want to install into the phone facedown in the tray. Make sure the side without the reflecting panel is inserted first.
  • Press the SIM card tray gently back into the slot until you hear it "click" into place. Now turn your iPhone on. All of the information on the card will now be in your iPhone 3G.

    Yes it is useful, one can copy phone numbers to different cards if one has the software and yes you can insert your 3G sim into it, whether your phone service provider will allow it to work, is another matter.

    If you don't have the 3G card installed in your laptop, you won't have access to any cell network.
    In that case, the sim slot is just a dummy slot.
