Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player

Updated firmware...now what???

Firmware has been updated but songs are still skipping (small pink pop up window saying "bad song" appears). my brother, whom also has an e260, has these songs on his and they are fine. a screen shot below illustrates what is in my e260 music folder. i don't know what these icons/folders are for and i can't delete them. they were not on my e260 when i first got it either. are these affecting my e260? any help is appreciated.     i Have the same problem as you do. Every time one of my purchased tracks from napster is played, it automatically skips over it. It also has the same pink pop-up that says "bad song".

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Formatting will erase system files. Try reinstalling the firmware and skip formatting if windows ask for a format.

Songs skip mid tune? not ev song but enuf 2drive u nuts

Update the firmware.
Reload the songs.
If the problem persists:
Re-rip the CD songs in Mp3 format in Windows Media Player
Then reload the songs. WMA format has a checkable option that is normally turned off by default, but must be turned on inside your Windows Media Player - it is much easier to reconvert the songs into Mp3 format than to tell you how to change this WMA option.

Recordings problem

The database is corrupt - run the Sansa Recovery Tool and start over - back up your recordings first, b/c the recovery tool will delete everything:

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to the Sandisk website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out.

I think i can never get songs on my sansa!

Muvo 100

My MuVo was having problems until I installed the latest firmware. The last firmware release was in July 2007. If you haven't updated the player's firmware since then, try downloading it and installing Creative MuVo V100 Firmware 1.05.01.

If you can't get your computer to even recognize the player anymore, you could try reinstalling the Creative Mass Storage Driver 1.07.00.250.

Skipping songs

We could try formatting the player and after the format has been complete try updating the firmware of the player. Change the settings fo the player to MSC then connect to your computer, open my computer and right-click the player and choose format remove the tick mark on the quick format and after the format has been completed. Unplug the device and go to the sandisk website and download the firmware update and install it and when it ask you to connect the device hook the plyer and perform the update for the player. Note: It may be the songs on the player are not that properly transferred that why it is skipping and also the player might also have had bad sectors that is why we have formatted the player. Hope this helps.
