I have installed the software program and connected the USB port to the camera. Now what do I do? I did this once before and had no problem, but now I can't figure out what to do.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Why can't i download my pictures from my kodak easyshare camera

Before you can download pictures from a camera to a computer, you have to install the software that came with the camera. First install the software, than connect the camera and switch it on.
The computer needs to know what it should do with the new device connected to the USB port. So a driver and a program have to be in place to tell the computer, not to charge the camera, but to down;road pictures. If you lost your Kodak CD, you can download the software here:

Most digital cameras (NOT ALL but the exceptions are sold as such)
can't be connected to the computer, when they are switched on.
Most digital camera's will shut down, when connected to the USB card. Your Canon G10 is no exception. Most of the time when connecting the USB cable the camera changes in an external memory drive for the computer. Some camera's can be charged via the USB cable. Even when connected to a computer.
Even when I want to connect my DSLR to a computer, to do life view on my computer screen, I have to install special (payed) software, to let it work.
Without the software running, the same DSLR always shuts down and only will download pictures when another program is started.

Why can't my computer communicate with my digital camera?

The cause and solution may include one of the following: There is a problem with the configuration of the USB port on the computer.See the USB.html file on the EasyShare software CD. The camera is off. Turn on the camera. The battery is not charged. Recharge the battery. Some Advanced Power Management utilities on laptops turn off ports to save battery life. See the power management section of the laptop User's Guide to disable this feature. The USB cable is not securely connected. Connect the cable from the camera to the computer port. The software is not installed. Install the software. The software is installed incorrectly. Do the following to install the software correctly: Disconnect the USB cable. Close all open programs. Uninstall, then reinstall the software. (To uninstall, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove programs.) Too many programs are running on the computer. Do the following to close all running programs: Disconnect the camera from the computer. Close all software programs. Reconnect the camera. The Battery Monitor or similar software runs constantly. Close the software before starting Kodak EasyShare software.
