Next to the jack on the camcorder it should have a diagram that shows polarity (a + and - sign) for the plug, the tip should be one sign and barrel or outside of the plug should show the other polarity. you have to have your plug with the correct polarity, and you have to have the correct voltage( it should say 9v or 12v or something like that) and the supply you use should be as high or higher of a current rateing as recommended in your users manual or printed on the supple that came with it.

WHERE CAN I BUY THE CASSETE
Video Only, and Best Buy will most likely have 8mm tapes. Walgreens and Radio Shack should also carry them. If the only tapes you can find are labeled Hi8 or DV8, you can still record on them with an 8mm camcorder.

When I connect the battery charger to the camcorder it doesnt even even show that I have the battery charger hooked up nor does it charge the camera. Could that be a problem with the camera or the charger?
I got hold of Canon support. I had the same problem. Got a new battery, fully charged and would not run the unit. Canon told me to do a system reset. pull out main battery and aux battery (bottom of unit) and to power switch to aux for 90 seconds. the put batteries back and it should work. Hope this helps.

I have a sony 8mm camcorder model ccd-fx620. I have not used in a while but wanted to convert 8mm to dvd but it will not power on, in fact there is a tape still in it I can not get out, any sufggestions
Put your camera on charge with it's charger you got with it, charge it for at least 2 hrs and the power will be enough to get tape out.

Canon uc-1 video 8mm camcorder
Yes it can be fixed, but Canon is not the easiest to work on. Is the connector loose at all? The audio head may be dirty. This is not on the spinning heads. If you look inside and locate the pinch roller (rubber roller), there should be a silver head that looks like a cassette tape head. Try cleaning that using a cotton swab and alcohol. See if that resolves the problem.

Canon UC1 8mm video camcorder
No solution..... but eager to know where one can get the battery packs and charger fir this camcorder (UC1) A 8 mm videotape is stuck within the camera housing and can not be ejected...No battery and charger available..
