Every time I get on skype to talk to family or get on netflix, after a couple of minutes, the computer freezes completely and begins to make a sound. I cannot move the mouse at all.The only way I can get out of it is by doing a hard shut down on the computer. I've uninstalled and re-installed Skype, but the problem still persists.

Is the computer taking forever to shutdown in the blue screen or is it something else. Perhaps try closing the applications running with the system to help the process speed up and actually work without the usage of the power button.

Did you run the uninstaller to remove Skype? You may have removed something you should not have, like a your display driver. Anyway for starters, remove the battery and after a minute or so, refit it. This will clear all spurious data and give you a clean start. If still dead, You will need to re-install your operating system from the CD.
