My machine is less than a year old and intermitently decides to jam after just a few stitches. It appears that the upper thread is getting caught somewhere below the needle plate and wrapping around multiple times until the needle can no longer move. When this happens the machine stops very suddenly. I've adjusted upper and lower thread tension with no success. At first cleaning and oiling the hook fixed the problem, but that doesn't seem to help any more. Is it possible that my tension adjuster is broken? I'd love to try any ideas you can share!
Take a few stitches and look for where the thread is hanging as the loop slides over the bobbin case. If there is a rough spot causing it to hang, smooth it out with very fine steel wool make certain to remove all remains of the steel wool when you are finished. If the thread is catching between the bobbin case and some other surface, the clearance between the surfaces needs to be set and you should take it to a qualified repairman.

The machine jammed and as I took out the bobbin to clean, the entire bobbin casing fell out. I borrowed the machine and the owner did not send the manual and i don't want to return it broken! How to I put the entire casing back in???
Afterbonly a couple of stitches the machine makes a clunking noise and then jams. I'm not a very experienced seamstress. I have tried adjusting the settings but it doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions on what I should try.
