Player turns off when I press the open/close button

The on light comes on but as soon as I press the open/close button to insert a dvd, the player turns off. This was purchased by my daughter for me. I believe she got it as one of those previously owned and repaired models because I have the manual and everything that would come with it but it was wrapped with cellophane rather than in a box so I don't know if it ever worked properly.

WILL NOT EJECT DISC

What is the model number of your DVD player? You may try power resetting the unit and check if it helps. To power reset, turn OFF the DVD player and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet and turn the player ON. Attempt to open the disc tray.

Depending on the model number of your DVD player, simultaneously press the POWER + STOP + EJECT buttons. If the disc tray still does not open, simultaneously press the DISC1 + STOP + EJECT buttons.
NOTE: This step may not apply to all models as DISC1 is not available on all DVD players.

If this does not work and if the DVD player has DISPLAY and PREV buttons, press and hold the DISPLAY+PREV buttons for two seconds to unlock the drawer.

  3. Allow the disc player to remain without power for 30 seconds.

Unit model D-C350/XSA only opens region 4 need to also to open region 2 DVD's

Hi there,

When I was with Samsung NZ, the following was how we multizoned our DVD (Region 4) players:
1. Turn on your player, but ensure no disc in machine - screen should show "No Disc"
2. Turn on your TV and select your DVD input (as if you were to watch your DVD).

Using your factory supplied remote, press the following buttons:

3. Press the Repeat (or Repeat A-B) button
4. Press the following button sequence: 7, 6, 8, 8, 4, 9 (you should see the number '9' appear on screen - this means 'Region Free').
5. Press the Open/Close button (to open the tray)
6. Press the Open/Close button again (to close the tray)
7. Press Power OFF (to shut down your DVD player)
8. Press Power ON (to turn on your DVD player)
9. Insert Region 2 disc and wait (up to 1min) for firmware to respond and read your disc

If this fails, try procedure again, except for Step 4: change the last number (instead of 9) to '2'.

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers,

Scott
