Question about Sony KDF-E60A20 60 in. LCD HDTV

Water behind LCD Screen

Our 2yo sprayed water on the screen to "clean" it and now the water is puddled behind the screen. It is like the old oil stickers behind the screen - can see the picture fine through it and if you press it the water moves around it seems fine after you move it out of the way. However, I cannot get the water out. I tried a hair dryer, but it just moves the water around. HELP!!!! This tv is less than two months old.

Arpi - thank you so much. I really appreciate the help. The hair dryer wasn't doing anything and I was starting to think my brand new TV was shot. Please send me the service manual. My email is [email protected] A couple of questions though. I read that you have to be very careful taking it apart because of dust getting into the LCD environment and subsequently ruining the picture anyway. Do you know if the techs use some special method to avoid exposing it to dust or do they just take it apart, clean it and put it back together fine? The dust issues seemed to apply to LCD laptop monitors, so it may be different for this situation. Either way, thanks again for the solution. I'll take a look at the service manual and I already have a call in to the Sony service.

    Many thanks,

My generator won't start. I started it when I first got it about a year ago. It's been in my garage for about a year.

Remove and clean/check/replace the spark plug first, spray some WD-40 in the cylinder, Remove all old fuel and just fill with enough fuel to run it. If you are comfortable removing the carb then it should be dipped/cleaned. Check to ensure the kill switch is not engaged/unplugged. Lemmee know then we can go further!

GE Profile leaking onto floor

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section behind the cover underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

Year 2002-2003? Check the stickers on the back of the unit for more exact information. As far as the screen cleaning: Soft, dry, lint free cloth for general dusting... Soft, lint free cloth little moistened with mild solution, like dish water to remove more stubborn marks. never spray the screen... never saturate your cleaning cloths.

What product should be used to lubricate the support wheels under the glass turntable? Sucessive cleanings of the glass has not eliminated noise from the wheels during operation.

Use silicone spray, never an oil nor oil based products. The silicone spray has a carrier that evaporates after spraying, leaving only pure liquid silicone behind. It is non-toxic and non-flammable once the carrier has evaporated.

You can get silicone spray at hardware stores, and most cans come with a tube that assures you get silicone only where you intend to.

Sometimes, the noise is from gummy buildup on the wheel axles. If you can remove the wheels (some are attached to removable rings), try soaking in ammonia and hot water then scrubbing lightly with an old toothbrush. Then rinse well. If this is the cause of your problem you won't need the silicone spray.

Screens won't turn on

Although the water sticker is white - it is possible that the unit got some water through the front. The sticker would turn red if it was dropped in a puddle, not if some water spilled on device when you had it open, say at the dinner table.

Since both screens wont turn on - either the connection from the PCBoard to the screens has frayed - or there was some moisture that entered the unit. Either way - it's not an easy fix. You may need to get a new phone.

if you spray wd 40 or a light oil on a rag and work it into the glue this will break down the glue and make it easier to clean up.
Hope that helps...
