You should change the ASA or ISO equivalent value--ie, change from 200-speed film to 1600-speed film. This will make the photo appear "grainier" but will show more detail. You can also manually choose slower shutter speeds--even longer than one second--but this will require that you hold the camera very steadily, probably on a tripod.

When you put the picture into your computer, you should be able to modify it with any available software. You can make the picture brighter, change the contrast, or change something called the gamma curve. ALWAYS work from a copy of the original file, so if you screw it up, you still have the original information intact!

I hve a nikon coolpix 10 MP but the image quality is poor....i have tried resetting all the camera settings to default and dont know what else to do....also, it keeps showing a red colored icon (it...

The red clock indicates that the date and time need to be set.
As for the "poor" quality, there are many possibilities. If the colors are wrong, the most likely culprit is an improper white balance setting. If the pictures are blurry, that could be caused by subject motion, camera motion, improper focus, or a combination of the three. If pictures taken with the flash are too light or too dark, that could be because the subject is outside of the flash's range. Without knowing what you mean by "poor" I can't give you anything more than some ideas.

Whenever I take a picture with my Nikon Coolpix S550 camera the picture has white horizontal lines in it.

I´ve got the same problem and think, that it`s the ccd unit.

Someone is offering the lens with ccd unit on ebay.

Best regards

What is the best sports settings for a Nikon Coolpix S550?

for this problem, their is a button to the right of the ok button on your camera. when you click that button a little scale type thing will pop up and it will say exposure compersation. you can press the up and donwn buttons to make the picture your taking darker or also you can pres up to make the picture come out more bright, without using flash. It works for me, hope it works for you too.

Why are my pictures so blurry.. HELP PLEASE!!

Hi Lindsay Davi,

First, make sure you have the file size set to the highest size and highest quality. Small file size and low quality settings produce small files with pixelization.

Second, no camera performs as well in low light as it does in bright light. It sounds like you are new to photography, so you should start out by shooting in bright light - outdoors in the sun. Once you know how to take good photos in the sun, then you can try taking photos when it is overcast, or in bright shade (on a sunny day but outside of the direct sunlight). As you develop more experience in taking photos you can try more difficult lighting situations such as indoors.

Flash lighting is difficult because the light "falls off" quickly as the distance from the flash to the subject increases. The camera's flash tries to put out enough light to illuminate both the subject closest to the camera and to also try to light the background, but this is often impossible. So the subject is too bright, and the background remains dark. If your subject is further away, the lighting evens out some. If your subject is close to the background (e.g. standing in front of a light colored wall) the camera will get the flash exposure set to a better value and the photos will come out better.

It would also help to get a book on basic photography.
