Hp photosmart C7250 hangs while printing

I have hp photosmart c7250 hooked up via usb to computer with windows 7 64 bit. It will start to print a document then stop and hang, the screen says printing but nothiing prints but the first line of document. I then have to hit cancel print since it hangs and does nothing. There is nothing stuck in the print que, I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled with the software from hp for windows 7. the printer diagnostic pages all print well but not able to print any documents from my computer. No error messages on the printer. Any help would be aprreciated.

Thank you Sean, I will swap out the usb cord for troubleshooting purposes. I will also try your suggestion on letting windows 7 install drivers. Thank you for your help, I will report back with the results.

I ended up getting it to work by going into the settings and cleaning the printer heads. Not sure why or how that caused the stalled printing. I am just happy it is now working

Hi Georgette,

You have tried your best with possible troubleshooting to fix the issue. There are few possible workaround solution for this issue.

First, If the USB Cable is more than 3-5 ft long, it could be the reason. Also, if the USB Cable is worn out or is broken in-between.

2nd, The printer does not seems to accept command from PC ( win 7 ) using the HP Software. So Uninstall the Software. Restart the PC.

Do not install Printer Software. Connect the Printer USB to PC and Windows 7 will display new hardware detected message.

Continue with the New Hardware Found Wizard and install the drivers it will list by Default.

Try to print and it should work.

If this works, You will be able to print without any problems however if you want to scan a document, you need to use Applications like MS-Paint, Microsoft Word etc, or Use the Scanners and Camera option in Control panel.

You can then install the software disk of printer or the downloaded software from Hp website to install Printer software for SCanning.

If you do so, you will find 2 printer icons in Printers Folder. First one will be with WSD text ( this icon is created when you connect the printer using USB without installing the printer software ) and 2nd icon will be HP Photosmart C7200 All in One ( this will be the Software installed ) and this will be default icon with check mark.

Whenever you want to print from any application, You need to click on File - Print - choose the WSD icon to print.

Regards,
Sean S

My HP C7250 inserts a blank page between every printed page. Windows Vista PC.

Perhaps this is a characteristic of the document being printed: Manual paper feeds in addition to the automatic paper feed characters? Use the word processing program matching the document to remove the unwanted paper feeds.

Last line or two of print gets cut off

I have seen this suggested in a HP Support Forum. See if it solves your problem:

1. Go to your printers folder, right-click on (the network connected) printer that you are having the problem with and select "Properties"
2. When the properties window opens, click on the "Ports" tab.
3. Near the bottom of the Ports tab window is a check box for "Enable bidirectional support", uncheck it and click "OK"

Blank sheet before each printed page

Here's a simple solution. It's easy! Instead of it being the C7280 - it's the C7250 - should be the same driver however. Good Luck!
