MY TV WON'T TURN ON , YOU CAN HEAR A BUZZING SOUND AND THE TIMER LIGHT ON THE FRONT OF THE TV STAYS ON , CAN'T TURN OFF TV WITH BUTTON OR REMOTE , MUST UNPLUG TV.
I NEED PART # AA4100197C ,IT'S A POWER BOARD.
AKAI SAID THEY CANCELED THE PART AND DID NOT MAKE A REPLACEMENT PART FOR THIS TV, MODEL # PT5492S.
MY TV IS ONLY 4 YRS OLD .
CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHWERE I MIGHT FIND THIS PART .THANKS
I contacted partstore.com. they were able to give me a part # for the board that you need. it was around $120. your problem may be more extensive than this though. was there any other service done to the set prior to this happening?

Hello. The chirping probably indicates a shorted transistor or diode, and the burnt smell usually indicates a blown capacitor or a burnt resistor, or multiple damaged parts. I would have to see the TV to be of any further assistance. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good luck.
You need to have the soldier joints around flyback transformer checked for weak spots. Then have the transformer tested. They should also test the backlight bulb inverter board. Just in case the set is on, but goes dark once the inverter board heats up.
If I were doing your repair, i would spend a good day testing these componants and be prepared to replace them.
the ticking comes from overcurrent circuit protection there are several areas inside the tv that could be causing this. The most common are the horizontal drive and output circuit and the power supply. If you call your area service tech he can give you a good idea on what the repair costs will run.
