After playing for a while, the game 'freezes' (though the music does not).

After playing for approx half an hour, the game freezes. I can still see graphics on the screen, but the screen is frozen (music will still play though). After a few minutes of this the screen goes black, but the music is still going. I have tried opening the lid while the screen freeze happens (disc is still spinning) but this does not work. Im thinking the graphics card may be on the way out? Reminiscent of other Nintendo console faults (ie the NES & SNES) Suggestions much appreciated. judsim

It doesn't sound like something that can happen - the graphics card dying..... It just doesn't sound possible.. the only thing I can think of, if that were the case, would be if you removed the heatsink while modchipping your machine, and it gets too hot... if that's the case, you may want to get some thermal paste and put some inbetween the graphics chipset and heatsink.... It sounds to me like the game may be a dud... or perhaps, have you checked the FAN? If for some reason it doesn't spin, it could be overheating...? In my opinion, I don't think it's possible for a graphics card to die... overheat, yes.. but die through depreciation is a new one.. it has no fan, so it is pretty much near a 0.0000001% chance of that actually happening.... The fact that the disc is still spinning would imply that the game is still reading... so, perhaps, the part of your VGA Output on the GameCube could have issues regarding OUTPUT OF VIDEO... loose wire that rattles perhaps, that needs refitting somewhere..? It honestly sounds like OVERHEATING FREEZING to me... CHECK THE THERMAL PASTE STORY.. AND THE FAN STORY... It's a classic case of overheating in my opinion.. I've seen it happen to my computer.. All I have to do is leave my case panel off, as it gets hot , and the exact same symptoms show up... And in the worst case, it could be an issue of unplugging and replugging cables. Hope that helps..

Well it sounds like those 2 game packs might have something wrong internally or the battery that saves your game data is either dying or is dead then. So you. Could buy new game packs to see if it works. Luke games

Games freeze then won't reload

This is actually overheating on the board - the choices you have to fix it are to send it in or you can fix it with a good guide at home.

My ps3 is freezing

Hey.

I might sound like a stupid solution, but if the PS3 is in a dusty area it sometimes freezes.. Try to vacume clean it.. Also, is your fan on and does it sound ok. It might freeze due to overheating. If it only freezes when you play games on a disc, it might be a problem with the laser reader, which could also be due to dust.

Hope some of it helped.

New game freezing about half way through

I don't think this is your xbox having a problem. This happened to me with Gears of War 2 once I just played over the game in the same spot over and over and it eventually stopped. This looks more severe for you though. It may just be a faulty game so best you can do is call the game manufacturer.
