I believe this choice is to determine where most of calls/texts your will be made to. Choosing Home will designate your home area code as your most frequently called area (no roaming charges) while Travel will probably allow you to choose a different area code as your most frequently called area. When you call out of your chosen area code roaming charges apply. Example, if your current phone area code is 123 and you move to area code 321 you may want to change your Home or Travel designation depending on where most of calls are made to since you can't actually change your phone number.
As for your other question, you don't need wi-fi to text. It's like making a phone call, you simply choose message instead of dialing a number. Phone calls cost 1 unit, while text messages cost .30 units. (Units are the dollars you spend to buy minutes divided by the total number of minutes you receive) Hope that helps.
Unfortunately, you have a DVD player that is "Region Specific" and cannot be changed. Your system has a region code printed on the back of the unit and will only play DVDs that are labeled with identical region codes. DVDs labeled "ALL" will also play in this unit. If you try to play any other DVD, the message " Playing this disc is prohibited by area limits." will appear on the TV screen. Depending on the DVD, no region code indication may be labeled even though playing is prohibited by area limits.

Have you changed the Regional Code of the DVD changer? Changing of Regional Code of the Changer is permitted for 5 times. To view movies of different region code, some people change it. Suppose you or someone have viewed a movie of different region movie after changing the region code & now you are trying to view a DVD of your region. In this case you will have to change the region code to your region. Changing of region code is available through the setup of the Changer.
