Connect your TomTom to the USB cable then turn on your TomTom in that order. Go to "My Computer" and open the drive that is your TomTom. Copy and paste your map folder to the desktop. Delete everything on your TomTom (don't format). After deleting everything on your TomTom. Open TomTom Home. TomTom Home will tell you, you need an application for your TomTom. Let TomTom Home load the application. You will probably have to do this at least 2 times to get the latest application for your device. After TomTom Home has loaded the latest application for your device closer TomTom Home and copy and paste your map back onto your TomTom. You should be ready to go after doing this. Make sure you do not skip a step when doing this.

Tomtomone stuck with frozen screen and wont switch off can switch off using the reset button but when switched back it sticks on the tomtomone screen

Your TomTom home software is corrupted:

1) Try a 'hard reset': while the power is on, stick a small (tooth/match) stick through the hole under your unit base and opposite to were the USB connector go, for a few seconds, remove the pressure on the stick will cause a complete system reboot if possible.

2) Check the health of your Tomtom One flash drive: connect to the computer, use Windows Explorer -> Properties -> Tools > Error-checking to scan and repair any problem.

3) Restore software: using TomTom Home, restore from a previous backup followed by a device update while connected online.

Hope it helps: let me know how you go and good luck!

I am having problem with my tom tom one xl it has frozen up it will not switch on or off only by by using the reset button and thats all it will do cannot get it to activate any thing else, many thanks,

you need to download tomtom2.gif home from the tomtom site so you can get the update for your XL. this normally cures the problem and tomtom home will do it almost automatically.

you can download tomtom home HERE 744b387.gif

just choose your operating system, then after you run it on your computer, just follow the on screen instructions.

TomTom frozen

My TomTom One is acting up. All of a suddent, it has a hard time finding a valid GPS signal. Then, it sometimes becomes frozen at the first screen when you turn it on. When I try to connect to the computer, the menu page comes up on the computer screen, but the unit does not respond to anything. This unit has operated smoothly until now and I have done nothing to change it. Any ideas?

Tomtom one maps

I just had this same problem. Quite strange. I have a Tomtom One New Edition and connected to a Vista Ultimate computer. Here is what I did to fix the problem I was having.

Exited out of the Tomtom HOME application. Went to "Computer" and right clicked the Tomtom drive (was M: for me, could be different for you) with the Red Icon. Selected properties and click on tools. From there I selected "Error-Checking" and only checked "Automatically scan and fix errors for me". It said it found a couple errors and corrected it. I then doubled clicked the icon in the bottom right portion of my screen which looks like a USB plug with a green check mark on it. I selected the drive and clicked stop. I disconnected the usb plug and then used a small tack on the bottom of the Tomtom unit to reset the device. After that, I turned the unit on and all was fine and I could clearly see that an update was applied.

Good luck! They really should have a support bulletin for this as this is clearly a common issue.
