Question about Kenmore 24 in. 15142 Built-in Dishwasher
Hi, My Kenmore Dishwaser 665.17979301 will not start. The cancel/drain button is the only thing that is working and it makes a noise as if trying to do something but that can't be good. I few years back it would not start and I tried a reset sequence that I found online and that worked but I can't find it again. Would appreciate if you know it or can tell who I can get it from. I can't find anything in my manual. Thanks. Sue
Try pushing the Sani-Rinse and Air Dry buttons back and forth a number of times.

I knew it was a sequence too, but wasn't for sure what it was...but, I pushed the water heat button, then the no dry heat button, 2 times, ..then..ALL of the buttons lit up...I pushed cancel. Let is sit for a bit, pushed the normal wash button, and then, the dishwasher worked great thru all its cycles. Mine is a sears kenmore ultrawash with quiet guard system...around 10 years old.

SOURCE: Kenmore Dishwasher won't drain
If you opened and closed the door and it started, that sounds like a bad, door switch in the console.
But you did hear a hum sound when it tryed to drain, it could be the drain solenoid, or the motor/pump assembly.
Take off the bottom access and look at the solenoid when it starts to drain, the piston in the solenoid should move freely, up and down with the white drain flapper that it connects to.
Also check for bad wiring connections at the power junction box where the power hooks up to it under the dishwasher, i have seen the wire nuts either come loose or burn off due to loose connections.

Hi
It may be an
issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump, please reset the power to
the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error.
If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing
this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air
Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub,
energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press
the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this
doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past
the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that
heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have
to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to
3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure
water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps...
Please post back if you need more information.

I have the same problem
Does anyone know the reset sequence to reset the Kenmore 24in dishwasher?
Nothing lights up/ power supply good but dishawaser will not run
Yeah, I have a similar problem. I tried pushing the Sani-Rinse and Air Dry buttons back and forth a number of times. Didn't help.
At first I thought the lock-on had accidently been engaged, but disengaging the "child lock" doesn't help. The lock-on light comes back on and sometimes blinks rapidly. I"ve counted around 7 rapid blinks at times and 3 rapid blinks at other times--in case that makes a difference. The control panel doesn't work--in other words, the dishwasher does not start, even when I can successfully get other lights to come on. I don't want to spend >$100. for a new control panel if that is not really the problem.
