Sony DCR-PC107E I have had this camcorder for a few years and has always worked well. Having not used it for a couple of months I switched it on and the display - both on the LCD and through the viewer is just distorted colored lines. light is distinguishable but barely. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be wrong and if it is fixable by a novice ie me thanks

DCR-HC32 NTSC the touch screen that controls the playback suddenly stopped working...help!

I've had this problem with my HC32 touch screen for a year and a half.
The fix was to buy a new camcorder which is working out great -- but every 6 months or so I have to get this one back out to use as my analog to digital video pass thru device.

To get the touch screen to work:
- I put it in the charger dock and turn it on AND LEAVE IT ON so the screen is displaying something (anything).
- within 12 to 24 to 36 hours it starts to work on it's own. At first it will only let you make a single menu choice and lock up again but a few hours later it will be perfectly normal for at least a few days (maybe forever if you use it regularly).

I've done this three or four times now and it has worked each time. It seems that after it sits a few months and the battery discharges the problem occurs.

Camcorder shows eject sign when i put a tape in it

A couple of things can cause this, loss of drum rotation (or loss of the sense of drum rotation) or loss of reel pulses. Remove the casette door and see if the drum spins when you try to load a tape. If not, you have a bad drum. No easy fixes for this problem, sorry!

Trouble shooting for Sony Cam coder DCR-TRV285E

It sounds to me like its definetely broken. There must be an actual part of the switch which has been physically worn out and makes the camera remain at the ON position. You can open the camera and find this switch. You may be able to glue the part together. However, this types of repair are only temporary and you may have to do it all over in a few months. I recommend buying a used camera on Amazon, which will cost you about $50.

HOW DO I SET DATE & TIME-ALSO GO FROM SP TO SLP

There is a built-in rechargeable battery in the camera and after approx 3 months it will be completely discharged if the camcorder is not used. To recharge: Connect camcorder to wall outlet using the supplied AC Adapter with the power switch turned OFF for more than 24 hours. (To keep the internal batter charged, try to plug the camera in every couple of months or attach a fully charged external battery for at least 24hrs). To set the clock: Set the power switch to CAMERA and then press MENU. Turn the dial to select CLOCK SET, scroll to the toolbox looking icon -it may say DEMO MODE next to it. Then press the dial. Turn the dial to select the desired year, month, day and then pressing the dial to set each as you go. For the tape speed go to Menu settings scroll to find Tape settings (TAPE SET), select REC MODE and from there you can change the tape speed from SP to LP. Hope this helps. I have the Sony Digital 8 Handycam DCR-TRV250 I purchased about 3 or 4 years ago (700x digital zoom etc).
