Hi Keith,
Your Hi-Fi is designed to produce many watts of audio power. It would be a fair assumption that you took out the output section of the audio amplifier of the CRT.
The best way to accomplish sharing the speakers between the CRT and Hi-Fi would have been to use a switch box, that way both audio sources would be isolated from each other and whatever source was not being used would be put into a dummy load.
You need to find the Part number of the damaged part. If you open the CRT (power unplugged) you will probably be able to find it with your nose, since it was damaged and burned up.
Call MCM Electronics with the part number and see if they can cross reference a replacement for you.
