Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here are some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, or if repair costs close to the value of the camera, they're worth a try.

I have been VERY happy with my Canon Power Shot Sd 1200 IS, but my photos all of a sudden are now very grainy and really disappointing, and not worth keeping at all. The camera is only 12 months...

Since you did reset the camera to the factory defaults I have only one suggestion - it is possible someone touched the lens with oily fingers.

In case if the reset to factory defaults did not work completely look at the following settings: resolution (set it as big as you can), compression, ISO (set it to lower value like 100). Also see if you are using any postprocessing effects.

Hi,

If the previously captured images are appearing fine in the Camera, then the issue is with the CCD Image Sensor unit only. Check if the display icons are appearing normally on the Camera screen.

My sony cybershot will not recognise the sony pro duo 8gb memory card I have been using?

Hi Nick,

The DSCW210 Camera is compatible with the Memory Stick ProDuo up to 32GB. The Camera will not recognize the Memory Stick if it is formatted in the Computer. Try removing and reinserting the MS and check if it helps. Try using different MS to check if the issue is with the MS or with the Camera. Try resetting the Camera and check if it helps.

Performing a manual power reset may help:

· Turn off the camera.

· Remove the battery pack.

· Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

· Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

· Reinsert the battery pack.

· Turn on the camera.

To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the Main Settings 1 Menu of the Camera to OK. This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.

Reset the camera to factory specifications to try resolving the issue.

Thanks.

Why are the photos on my Canon Power Shot S3IS not

When my cameras start having a mind of their own there are three basic things I check:
1. How old is the battery? Or has the camera been sitting around for a while? Chances are your battery doesn't have the gusto in it anymore if you answered yes or maybe to one of these. And then the camera stars acting up.
2. Once you've started "researching and resetting" all the possible settings it is good to reset all settings to default settings. Your manual will guide you for this.
3. Last but not least, where you out in humid weather? lake? sea? ocean? boat? handled the camera after coming out of the pool with wet hands?
anything that would have allowed all that to seep into your camera?
