From a pure physics standpoint...
The energy to climb a hill... be it from the steep side or the gentle sloping side is the same...
It is just easier on your heart and joints to take the gentle slope... (assuming you have the time).
ERGO:
If treating the scooter like a QUEEN
is your goal... DEFINITELY GO SLOW.
Tat way you will have no idea if it has any weak spots when you need it to go fast (and you will).

SOURCE: little gem mobility scooter brake not working properly
The throttle part has slip round, a way to test this is to put hte buggy in reverse slightly and it shoud stop, meaning that how much the throttle has slipped round. Take the top cover off and there should be a allen screen on the throttle stem, undo and readjust.
SOURCE: new battery. hooked up correctly. But, scooter
Hi. Did the machine used to operate properly in the past? Sometimes previous owners or technicians have changed the programme for owners for different uses. What you describe sounds like a faulty throttle pot ( Wig Wag ). I have changed many throttle pots for this reason.
Also check battery and motor connectors.
Do you have another switch on the machine for controlling the speed, such as an indoor/outdoor switch? Good luck. Neil.
SOURCE: I have a milan mobility scooter, turn the key & it sounds a low
Hi. This sounds difficult. I have had a few scooters move slowly forward or in reverse, but not both. Normally if the speed pot ( wig wag ) is not exactly in the central position, they can do this.
It is possible for a scooter to have your problem, if the speed lever is binding or rubbing on the housing. Normally the lever is returned to the middle by a spring around the speed pot shaft. If this spring is loose or broken, then this could also cause the problem. Sometimes a small spot of oil or grease will help.
To check the speed lever is in the middle, slowly move the lever for forward untill you hear the brake solenoid release. Now release the lever and slowly pull it for reverse untill you hear the brake solenoid release. Make sure that the speed lever moves the same amount for forward as it does for reverse. If not adjust it with the key off.
If you get the machine to drive properly, then change the controller to see if it is OK.
As for the beeping, a lot of machines will go into an error mode if the speed lever is not in the central position when you turn the key on. This is a safety precausion.
Good luck. Neil.
