If you have some traces of blue and green but they are very weak especially around the edges and usually blue being the the worst than you probably have contaminated cooling fluid in the Picture Tubes. Its a big job to do it right and a waste of money to do it wrong (I've seen places just drain and refill, this is not the right thing to do) the CRT's must be disassymbled drained and CLEANED before re-assymbling and re installing. It will be labor intensive but probably worth it if the TV was givin to you

Hi, I have an Acer X193W monitor that recently got an update that I guess was from 2008. When I restarted the computer suddenly everything was brighter colorwise. As in Red looked like pink and everything...

you should be able to uses "system restore" to remove the update or to take the computer back to the time before the update. here is a link for a article that will explain it all. if that doesnt work then you can search acers web site for drivers that are compatible with vista. i think you just have a driver issue. in fact, search for the drivers first then use restore if you have to. here is the article.

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/

i just did a quick Google on Acer x193w vista drivers, and found several spots for drivers, here is 1.

I have had this TV 6 months. Got it from a friend. The set worked perfectly in my house for 3 months. The color seems to have suddenly changed giving a gold tint to all cable channels, dvd's etc. I have...

I don't want to seem condescending in anyway but i would try checking all your cables to see if they are plugged in properly and if that doesn't help id suggest buying new cables and testing those to see if your old ones have died out. If it isn't the cables then return them but at the least we've figured out what it isn't. Other then that i cant really see of any problem other then an internal one.

Canon i860 won't print deep colors

I had similar problem: everything muted and with brownish tint. Tried everything, finally discovered that I installed wrong cartridge: 6PC instead of 6C. The "photo" cartridges are pretty much the same, make sure you have the right ones: 6C, 6M, and 6Y.

ALOT OF BLUE ON THE SCREEN!!

Your TV most likely has one or more possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

Losing color

Hello sherylfaith,

I guess you posted twice, here is the same advice I gave you on the other post :)

You might be having problems with the Video IC, actually the section of the IC that controls color. I would first check to see if the color controls are working, I would also suggest checking the color presets and defaults. After trying these controls if the color can not be corrected then troubleshooting of the circuitry is needed for this I would suggest that you have a qualified TV technician look at the set and give you an estimate for repair.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Blurry screen KP61hs10

Yes, Convergence settings should be tried first before any color adjustment or any fluid changes are done. Remember that there are 3 colors to notice. Red, Green, Blue. The Green is the only one that you can not move with an adjustment The Red and Blue is ligned up on green. Some cases it does matter how linear the Green color is across the board, just how close you get the blue and red on top of green is what matters.

To much red in the picture

Yes, either some resistor has changed and it's pulling down the blue and green or depending on how much red it could be a short on the red line. Also you can open back of set and try this. Each CRT's have a Focus Block with Screen control. Maybe you can turn down red and align up with blue and green. The professional way of doing color is to get a good grey scale, meaning black and white picture. THis is turning down you color on set to zero and looking and adjusting to black and white as good as possible. You can try this but if there is a serious problem it may not help. The problem may have to be resolved first. Be very careful in touching anything while set is on, unfortunatly you have to have the set on to properly adjust. but you can use something plastic or rubber end screw drivers

Everything has a yellow tinge.

Have you tried giving it a good tap on the side? Hey its worked before. Have you tried hooking it to another machine to verify "yellow." Was it yellow on your friends computer? How old is the monitor? Good Luck, Tim
