Maytag pav51584ww my washing machine fills but won't stop filling i changed the fill level switch but that did not work any sugestions would be helpfull thanks
Check the tube leading away from the fill level switch for splits .take tube offr and check for blockage. this tube goes to the air chamber which may also be clogged. if so clean it thoroughly

Does it fill with water to the correct level? The water pressure switch lets the machine fill to a certain level and the stops the water coming in, then the control board should start the agitation.
The switch the tube connects to shuts the water off. Will it cut off on high medium or low level. You can try blowing on the tube to see if it works. It should cut off when you blow.
top loading machines comes with a pressire switch to determine the water level.IT will fill with water till the switch is triggered to stop filling and continue with the next task of washing. there would be a rubber hose connected from the wash bucket to the pressure switch. Check for broken,leaking,bitten by rats hose or probably the switch it self is faulty, which is rather rare.
After the water fill, Switch off the mains, allow little water bleed through the hose that goes to the level switch. As the water flows try fixing into the level switch block.
Clean the water drips to dry and switch on the m/c. It should be alright since you say that the switch is OK when air is blowed!
water level sensor not working or load size selector switch failed. could also be a failed water inlet solenoid valve. Turn it to cold wash and see if water fills again, if not turn it to hot wash and see if it fills again.
Remove the small tube from the water level switch and blow through it to clear any clog in the air dome on the side of the tub. Remove the small tube from the air dome and blow through it into the water level switch to reset it. Then set the machine for spin and run spin cycle for 1 minute. Then try your fill again. If it does not work this time, replace the water level switch.
You may need a new fill switch.Or you can try to remove the small hose from the outer tube to the water level switch and clean it.That is a short cut that may work but i would go with a new water level control switch hope i helped:)
be sure the rubber hose runnig from the water level switch to the tub is conected on both ends if not conected to the tub the water will come out the hole the hose is supposed to be conected to and it want stop filling.
How do you get it stop filling? If it stops filling by just shutting the timer off you may have a bad pressure/water level switch, if you have too shut the water off too the machine at the wall then you have a bad inlet water valve.
