I don't think it will be possible to import moving image (live video). I have got a digital camera and all of those pin cables, but the result is nothing. The only one way (at least I suppose that) to do what you want is to have a web cam. Those cams are specialized devices to import moving image to computers.

After a deep study of the manual there are two reset buttons. One on the remote (pg 8 #4). The camera reset is next to the tape eject button. (pg6 #25). Hope this helps.

AC adapter power not enough for XP?

I use WINXP Pro and there is no problem. I can only offer the steps that I use for you to see if it makes any difference. Sometimes the sequence can be the answer.Try this twice, once with the battery in the adapter and once without the battery.
1. Power down PC.
2. Disconect camera from PC.
2. Power up PC.
2. Make sure the camera is off.
3. Remove battery from Camera.
4. Plug adapter into mains (with or without battery)
5. Plug camera into adapter.
6. Plug camera into PC with firewire.
7. Switch Camera on
