Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook
Computer was running fine, then just shut off for no reason. (Click noice, and goes black) You could start it back up and it would boot fine, run anywhere from 3 - 10 minutes and then shut off again. Keeps shutting off over and over. that was my main problem. I called tech support, and they told me to do a restore with the disks that came with it. I thought that was a drastic step for a first resort, and I thanked them and hung up. Well after it kept doing it, and I couldn't use, I decided to do the restore. After starting restore it just keeps shutting off, so I can't get through the restore and now it definately won't boot because it had started doing restore and has probablly erased the hard drive, but it won't stay on long enough to get through the rest of the 3 disks. It is plugged in, so can't be battery. Help - computer is only slightly over 1 year old, with minimal usage!

If the fan on the processor is indeed spinning, then I would go to your local electronics store and buy some thermal compound. Spread some on the top of the processor and firmly mount the heat sink on top. That should solve your overheating problem.

Just check in the power options that anything is not set to shutdown if idle like the hard drive. it sounds really to be processor overheating problem, just check around the side and underside vents for any blockage. Does your fan appear to cut in at any point and stay on or not come on at all, as these things ay be a clue to the problem if it's the processor overheating and shutting down.
