Acer erecovery management isn't working

My laptop was going slow and it took way too long to open any program. I tried to do a complete factory restore with acer erecovery management. However, for the first few minutes, the restore was going ok, but at 92 percent it got stuck and I got an error that said the restore failed. It was error 0x45d. Please help!

SOURCE: restore acer aspire to factory setting

For all Acer Netbooks try to initiate the recovery using Altgr key (righthand side of the space bar) and F10, ie Altgr+F10 as soon as the computer restarts. If the recovery partion is corrupted or do not have the CD. Try the below steps:
No Restore CD / eRecovery / password / ALT + F10 or F10
1 - Recovery of data on the hidden partition PQSERVICE for password
A - Installing the software R-Drive Image to create an image of this partition (this file has the extension. ARC)
B - Always with this software, create a virtual disk logic to see the files
C - From the desktop, go to the newly created virtual disk and find the file aimdrs.dat. The open with the notepad and get the password.
2 - Reactivating the ALT + F10
A - Always on the virtual disk created, find 2 files: mbrwrwin.exe and rtmbr.bin.
B - Copy these 2 files on drive C: \
C - Since the MS-DOS (Pocket PC) to C: \, type the following command: mbrwrwin install rtmbr.bin
D - The function has been reactivated.
3 - Start of Restoration
A - At the start of the PC, go to the set-up to check if the function is well on D2D enabled (normally it is a default setting ... but hey you never know.)
B - Once the audit and that the PC has restarted once the ACER logo appears, simultaneously press ALT + F10 to start the restore utility.
C - When it asks for the password, you need to type one found in the file aimdrs.dat. CAUTION: The keyboard is QWERTY mode so we thought enter his password, but as some letters are reversed, it does not work.
4 - Normally at this stage there ... everything works and restoration is smooth.
Note: If the operating system does not work, it is possible to do this from another PC by connecting the hard drive or USB slave

You can "try" to stop the process from starting by unchecking the appropriate box under boot menu.

go to RUN, type MSCONFIG, check the startup tab.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: forgotten password on my Acer eRecovery Management

If you fully formatted the hard drive then most probably you have cleaned the PQservice division which might had recovery data; you can check this with the help of Computer Management console in Windows. It is in Windowssystem32compmgmt.msc. Also check the Disk Management and see what partitions you still have. Acer eRecovery Management won’t work if there is no default partition i.e. There should be E or D partition in order to run it.

Try www.download.com Here you might find your required software or else you have to ask the supplier to fix this problem for you. Hope this helps!

Need factory settings aspire 5920

Laptop computers can be wonderful devices, except when the need to troubleshoot arises. Acer laptops are no different. A quick way to fix many problems with an Acer laptop running Windows is to reset it to factory settings. Resetting your Acer laptop to factory settings can eliminate slow operating, registry problems, virus problems, spyware issues and more. And a factory reset of your laptop may reduce the need for a full reinstallation of Windows.

1.Back up all necessary data to an external device such as a disk, flash drive or hard drive

2.Make sure all programs are closed and shut down your Acer laptop by opening your Start menu and selecting "Shut Down" from the options for shutting down and restarting windows.

3.Detach any external hardware such as an external hard drive or printer.

4.Press the Power button to boot your Acer laptop.

5.Press "Alt + F10" on your keyboard when the Acer screen appears at the start of the boot up process. Wait a moment while Windows loads the reset files.

6.Select "Restore System from factory default" in the Acer eRecovery Management window.

7.Click "Next" on the next screen to continue. Click "Next" on the following destination information window. This will pop up a notice telling you that resetting your Acer laptop will erase all data and restore the laptop to its original settings and configuration.

8.Click "OK" in the notice window to proceed with resetting your Acer laptop.

9.Wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

    Restore to factory setting

If you want to completely reset it back to the original windows settings you must re-format your computer. This won't put the original programs back on it that you had before, but it will give your computer a COMPLETE reset. Meaning also that if you want to keep some data you must put it on some external drive because your hard drive will be completely overwritten.

If you want to get it back to just the factory settings, you could try to contact their customer services if they don't anything on their site to help you, although I would not recommend it. Factory settings aren't the best because they usually put stuff on your computer that you don't really want. Re-formatting is the best thing to do.
