Panasonic mocrowave oven resets itself

My panasonic over the range microwave oven is 1.5 years old and today for the first time, it is behaving strangely. Whatever minutes you set at the panel, it shuts off after 5 secs. I looked around and looks like other people also have similar problem, but I did not see a specific cause for the same. Could this be a magnetron tube problem? Is it easy to replace magnetron tube, and is it safe to do so. Please help me out.

I tried switching off for long time but did not help. Behavior still exists.

Try unplugging the microwave for about 30 seconds, then plug back in. This may work. What you are doing is resetting the micro processor.

Did you recently have trouble with the cooktop lights?

Sometimes when the cooktop lights blow or are inserted or removed while the oven is still plugged in, the filaments can short, causing a surge that damages the controller.

They can be repaired. More details here.

From your description it does indicate a magnetron problem, you would be further ahead replacing the microwave oven when you consider the expense of the repair involved.

Install panasonic over the range microwave

I would see Panasonic's FAQ or contact them. For FAQs, see http://service.us.panasonic.com/faq/faq.aspx

For support see http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Home-Appliances/Microwave-Ovens.75543

All in all, I would think that if you anchors are secure and the wood is at least 1/4", it should be fine. But I would contact Panasonic.

Your owner's manual may tell you more. To download your Panasonic owner's manual see http://service.us.panasonic.com/operman
