Hello, I have a Canon Power Shot sd1000 Digital ELPH. I cant get the time and date stamp to print on the pictures. How can I fix this?

If the pictures are the ones you have shot without time and date stamp, you can't add them by your camera then. You only can add them by your computer.

I am unable to determine how to get my camera to put the date on the pictures. Cannon Power Shot A480. Pam

Press the FUNC/SET button. Use cursor-up/down to select the recording size (probably L, unless you've changed it). Use cursor-left/right to select the date stamp icon (clock on a picture). Press the MENU button. Use cursor-left/right to select [Date] or [Date&Time] and press FUNC/SET.

It's all in the "Inserting the Date and Time" section of the manual (page 56 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one at

If you've replaced the date battery, then the camera is defective. Being only a month old, first recommend seeing if your retailer will exchange it. If not, Canon will fix for free under warranty. Call 1-800-OK-CANON.

Losing Time and Date

Most pcb boards ( mother boards) for any type of machines; copiers, printers etc... have a battery on the board to keep the memory when not in use or unplugged. this is only to keep certain functions in memory, ie: memory, time, date, settings etc.
That's what I would suggest changing, you would have to take it apart to get to the board.
