Zoom Lens (Sony DCR-PC7e) The zoom lens has a life of its own. When you zoom in, it will zoom out again without my touching the switch. When recording, the zoom will suddenly move, again without touching the switch. Thaks for any help! I love this camera.

this camcorder is an earlier model thus the zoom control motor could be weak, if so open it and take out the camera section and unscrew the zoom control motor, loosen it, some sort of sticky grease on the worm gear also obstructs, clean it with small brush or cotton bud. then apply a little silicon grease. don't let dust go in.

Camcorder displaying Error 61

this is a lens error code.. In most cases iether the focus or the zoom motor is jammed. Pretty tough to free sometimes . But I useully will try it before ordering one or the other . They may not be available seperately but only as the entire zoom lens unit.

Hi I bought a pro-spec 70-210 lens for my Sony Alpha. When you go to zoom out it doesn't twist. You can pull it straight out...Is this how it should work? The rest of my lenses all twist out

Yes. It's a push pull zoom action.

One touch zooms as used on 35mm film SLRs used to have the same mechanism, the zoom ring twisted as well to achieve focus but now that most lenses are autofocus that's unnecessary. So you have a lens which just retains the push-pull, a far more natural action in my opinion and usually faster than a rotating zoom. Once you get used to it I think that you'll prefer it.

By contrast, most modern zooms have what was considered in 35mm terms to be an old-fashioned twin touch zoom: one ring was turned to zoom the lens and another was turned to focus it. This sometimes meant that after zooming you had to refocus; your push pull zoom will likely have a more technically demanding constant focus zoom action, there will be an additional manual focus control as well, but it's very much a minor secondary control used only when your AF has broken or is switched off.

I hope that my reply has been of use to you, please return the favour by rating my answer.

Sony DCR-DVD403 camcorder - picture won't focus. E:61:10 error.

E61:10 is a lens error code. You have a bad lens unit, but sometimes they can be fixed. The focus and zoom motor worm drives on the zoom lens jam when they get dropped. If your really really carfull you can free them up and fix the lens. Thereis a plastic claw that rides along the worm drive shaft that can get jamed. I've fixed thousands of these but i'm a guru. It can be tricky.

Zoom not working E61:10

Zoom motor in camera lens mechanism is stuck due to **** etc. You need to open camera, take out camera lens section and check zoom motor.

Do the above if you know basic electronics and have little experience of camera repair.
If don't, contact Sony Service to fix the camera.

Zoom is stuck

Just check the DC power supply flowing to the Lens block control. Some times the SMD fuse blows off and power may not reach the lens block motor.

Zoom problem

Ive seen this three times and everytime its been something differant. Fist was the rocker switch was jammed. easy fix as dirt was in there. Second was a small serface maounted capacitor in the zoom interface circuit. An third never found the problem as we thought it was a limit switch in the lens itself but the customer never paid for a new lens assy so we didnt order it. Good luck
