This dryer has 2 thermal fuses. One next to the control stat on the blower housing and another on the heater element. You could quite possibly have a bad blower wheel or simply a lint build up cauing over heating. To get inside this dryer you remove the door first. The you can remove the front. Once that is removed you can pop the top and get the front shroud off. You cannot work from behind.

SOURCE: Maytag gas dryer runs, doesn't dry

Check in the hole where the screen goes for blockage. Many times debries falls in there when removing screen. It cant make it out of the vent so it builds up and clogs the vent.

On my dryer the igniter is rt behind the front panel. Take off the dooe and a few screws and pull it off. If the igniter lights at all it is good. Try also checking the entire discharge vent hose as sometimes it gets clogged way dn line and you might not notice it. Try squeezing it all the way dn.

Dryer won't heat maytag neptune mde 5500 ayw

Hi

If the dryer is not drying the clothes then you would need to check for the following things-

Electric Dryer---

1. Inspect the fuses and circuit breakers they may have burned out or tripped. Usually, dryer will still tumble but not create heat if a fuse or a circuit breaker is not working.

2. Check for the amp reading at 240 V, it should have reading of 24, 21 and 3 amp (approx.) for 2 lines and neutral respectively.

3. Heating element may have turned or the connection to the element might be loose. Sometimes a shorted circuit element will keep on blowing the fuse or circuit breaker.

4. Motor wiring shorting to ground.

Hope this helps...

Daniel

My maytag neptune dryer is not heating and drying clothes

Hi,
  • Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

  • Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

  • A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.
You can take your unit to nearby service centre if you find all the above are working fine.

Dryer willnot heat

heating eliment is most likely burned out. Better off getting new dryer. But if that is not an option then call a repair person that can replace the heating element.

Roper dryer model REX 3514RQ1. dryer works for/then quits. help!!

I have seen this before. You have got to remove the housing for the filter. Blow out the area around the blower and get the junk out of there. Wash out the filter housing.

Slow to dry cloths

Remove the vent from the back of the dryer and see what the temps are. The cycling (or operating) thermostat is on the blower housing and opens more than 100* lower than the 266 you are reading. That, combined with the long dry times indicates an airflow issue. Check your lint screen....fabric sheet and lint can combine to coat and restrict air flow through it. Also check down in the blower housing with the lint screen removed. You'll see lint build up by looking down the slot with a flashlight. If it's restricted, so is the blower wheel and the blower housing. Also make sure the flap, or lovers at the vent hood outside are opening fully. Remove any accumilation of lint from there.

The high limit control is just that........If you cycling thermostat has failed, or does not open because there is no airflow, the limit control opens as a safety. On a normally operating dryer, the high limit control will never open.

The neptune dryer is designed to move more air than a regular dryer due to the higher capacity load it get's from the neptune washer. That is the case with most front load laundry pairs.

Maytag Neptune MDG 5500 AWQ heats sporatically

your dryer has a safety feature that it will not run or heat when the door is opened. It is so no gas fumes are exhauseted into your home. Once the safety is engaged, It will not allow the dryer to restart for a short while. It should clear itself after only a few minutes. Hope this helps, good luck.

Maytag Neptune gas dryer sense dry time at 99, little or no heat

If this is a gas dryer, I'd suggest an inspection by the gas company or qualified technician. If the jets aren't firing correctly, you are wasting gas and possibly creating a hazard.

Maytag compact dryer low heat doesnot dry. works for hrs clothes still damp.

i am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer.

Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

DRYER WON'T TURN ON JUST A ELECTRONIC SOUNDING BEEP WHEN I PRESS START.

Check all fuses and circuit breakers , if they are fine, then the problem is with the control timer. You need to have the control timer replaced.
