When the Apple Logo is stuck
If this happens, put the iPod into Disk Mode through the diagnostic menu. Then connect the iPod to your computer and update or restore the iPod. Sometimes you can get away with just updating the iPod, so try that first, but usually you have to restore the iPod . As always make backups of your music files, because the restore procedure will eliminate them.

Try holding down the top power button and the home button at the same time for 10-20 seconds. This should force a hard reboot of the iPod touch and restart it. If it is just frozen it should then unfreeze the screen after a reboot.
Step 4
Press the "Home" and "Sleep/Wake" buttons together for 5
seconds until the Apple logo appears.
Step 5
Release the "Sleep/Wake" button but continue holding down the
"Home" button. The iPod Touch should reboot, and iTunes will notice the
iPod Touch in recovery mode.
Select "Restore" and follow the instructions to finish restoring your
iPod Touch.
Let it die on its own. Then plug it into your charger and let it completely recharge, Unplug from wall charger, and see if comes back on. You may have to restore it before using it again.
First thing you do is to switch the hold button on then off, and then when the ipod is not on hold you press the center button and the, and the play/pause button at the same time. then hold on to them two buttons to where to ipod symbol shows up. then you wait and it will go back to normal!
