It isn't the remote, as I've removed the batteries. Also, the TV/video button on the front of the TV its self doesn't seem to be stuck or malfunctioning. Any ideas?
You have to replace all the micro-switches at its front panel switch board PWB.

Hi -
I had the exact same problem recently with my SONY Trinitron 27 inch TV! After trying everything, I found that pushing the Up and Down volume controls on the TV panel (ie NOT on the remote) at the same time, the problem went away. I hope that this helps!

Get out your original remote and hold the "Setup" button at the same time as holding the On/Off button on the TV set. It just worked for me!! Thank goodness. I was just about to bring it for repair but there's a snowstorm. Here's the link I got this from: http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=http--esupportsonycom-perl-tutorial-displaypltutid297templateid1regionid1KSMFlag7370&sliceId=&docTypeID=DT_TUTORIALS_1_1&dialogID=53101564&stateId=0%200%2053105132

The TV circuit may have detected a problem within its parts. You may have to check some leaking capacitors in the board or loose solders or burned components just to make sure. Normally leaving the TV unplugged overnight should reset it.
