Have lost all my photos from my samsung digimax v800 camera card

In "playing around" with all the options on my samsung digimax v800 camara, I have lost all the photos from the card. I have a feeling that I might have inadvertently changed the format part of the programming of my samsung digimax v800 to "YES".

Would this action have irretrievably wiped off the whole content of my SD memory card or is there any way in which I can retrieve these photos?

Any advice would be most welcome, especially if it results in recovering the situation.

Manyn thanks

Nigel Parry

I have had success with this... Download the photo recovery program
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

Definitely Yes!

First of all, you should stop saving any new files to your SD card or taking new pictures with your Samsung Digimax v800 camera.

Then find some photo recovery software, which are able to recover deleted or formatted photos from cell phone, digital camera, memory card and SD card etc.

Digital Photo Recovery for Windows

Digital Photo Recovery for Mac OS X

Here are the steps:

Step 1: Download and install the Digital Photo Recovery Software.

Step 2: Connect your SD card to your PC or Mac.

Step 3: Scan the source drive where your lost pictures located.

Step 4: Recover the lost pictures and save them to another drive instead of the source drive.

Best regards!

Download free software " file recovery (memory-card)" and use it. Hopefully it will recover files from memory card.

All is lost. there are a few warnings before deleting anything, but when you click OK the camera assumes you're doing wht you want it to do.

I have windows 8 on my laptop and it doesn't seem to be compatible with my Samsung digimax v800. is there a way round this?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Check sd card

The V800 works with SD cards. Your new 16GB card is a SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work in this camera. You need to go with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

What capacity SD card can I use in my Samsung Digimax V800, I was told only 1GB is this true. Thanks

The manual only guarantees cards up to 1GB. However, SD cards go up to 2GB and such cards should work. Cards larger than 2GB are SDHC and will NOT work.

Samsung Digimax as a webcam??

I know this isn't the answer you wanted to see, but no. The V800 was designed as a camera, storing images (and videos) to a memory card, not to stream them live to another device.

SAMSUNG V800 SDHC CARD FIRMWARE UPGRADE

No. The differences between SD and SDHC goes beyond what firmware can change. It's possible to design a device to use both SD and SDHC cards, but a device that was only designed for SD cards cannot use SDHC cards without hardware changes.

8GB SDHC Cards

Your camera will accept a maximum SD card capacity of 1GB. It simply isn't capable of handling anything of a larger capacity and in particular is incompatible with the more technically advanced SDHC cards.

Your fix is to either replace your camera with a later model or to stick to using SD cards with a maximum 1GB capacity.
