I am trying to download firmware onto my microphoto I have done everything tech support told me. On how to reboot and erase the memory then to download the firmware off of the creative labs site. But when it gets to rebuilding library it freezes. The mp3 player just sits there with that message on it. Is this something that can be fixed or is this a fatal problem? It started having problems after it was removed from the docking station without being shut off first.
thank you for your time,
Dawn

If a problem is occuring with the firmware, then just go onto the CREATIVE ZEN website /www.creative.com and select the model of your creative mp3 player.. once you have selected the modell it will then scan your mp3 player to check what it is required and then reccommends the downloads listed. However it is vital that your mp3 player is connected to your pc via usb lead.
try downloading the MP3 player recovery tool from Creative's website (the tool contains the latest firmware update available -- 1.15.03). Plug your ZV+ into your PC, run the program and let it update the firmware. Then format, reload your music and try it.
By the way, before updating the firmware, let the battery have a full charge, ok?
I hope it won't keep freezing on you after the update
I just found this on another website and it seems to be working so give it a shot
Listen!!!!! Anyone having problems try this before you blame the product. Turn off player........remove battery.......hold on button ON and put battery back in while still holding the power button on. When power comes on release the power button. You should now see a clean format and re-boot screen. Use the clean function two times. After the second time go down to reboot and should be fine. Worked for me. The Zen Micro Photo is a sweet mp3 player. Dont blame the product for something YOU most likely did. This will fix 99% of your players problems

ZEN Micro and ZEN MicroPhoto
1. Make sure that the battery is charged.
2. Detach the ZEN Micro or MicroPhoto from the PC, and ensure that it is turned off.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Move and hold the Power button to the Power On position and re-insert the battery to the ZEN Micro or MicroPhoto. Hold the Power button until the Recovery Mode appears.
The following options will be displayed:
-Clean Up : Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.Does not affect music files themselves.
-Format (All):Caution! Erases all content!Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
-Reload OS/ Firmware : Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
Reboot Reboots the device.
Sounds like it may be the index in your Music Library. Try going into Recovery Mode; remove battery, hold power switch to ON, replace battery, release power switch when the Recovery Mode screen appears on the screen. Run Option 1 CleanUP, after it completes run Option 4 Restart. You will get a Rebuilding Library screen when it reboots, that's normal, then it should go back to your startup screen.
Good luck
