Question about Symbol PPT 8800 Portable Terminal

HELP! Symbol PPT 8800

I have a PPT8800 Mobile Computer from Symbol, and when in the cradel it flashes red. I changed the batteries twice thinking that was the problem. I used same battery on a diff scanner and it worked so not the battery, used a good working scanner on the cradel and theres nothing wrong with cradel. OK, so is not the battery, is not the cradel, please help i don't know what elso to do.

Hi, I just bought a set of 5 used symbol ppt8800,

Hi there,

It seems that the Wireless features, like Wlan and Bluetooth are optional features.
To find out what kind of connectivity is availble, hit start, settings, and then from the bottom, connections.

Take a look under network cards tell me what you got listed there and also see if you got Wireless manager or similar available there?

Hello, i have a symbol 8800 that will not boot at all. I have tried replacing batteries, cold booting etc... all of which have not worked. Is it busted?

There is a part on the battery cover that activates a switch on the main pcb.
This switch is on the opposite side of the "reset" switch on the back of the machine, near the bottom.
If this switch is not being activated, the machine will not turn on.

Try squeezing the bottom the machine, thereby pressing the battery into the machine harder. Then try turning it on.

Are you referring to the base kit for manufacturing floors ? What is the model number of your base?

I suspect when you say base you are actually referring to an access point. It would likely be model 5131 or (older)4131.

That access point can support many devices. Hence you need only one. Be careful to turn on WEP encryption (or TKIP) on the access point so you don't become the next TJmax!

Dialing through the modem

Ok sometimes PABX systems just don't seem to play well with modems... as a thought put a couple of Commas, a "Pause" B4, AND AFTER ya try to dial the 9, IE: ,,9, As sometime it takes a while for the PABX to "Latch on" to the DTMF tones. Thats all I can think of really.
