For the Maytag about which I was asking, one must
roll the belt off the agitator/drum pulley
remove the motor/water pump assembly (1 electrical connector, two hoses with clamps, four 1/2" bolts).
remove the water pump (three torx screws).

First put the belt around the small pulley, shd be the motor pulley i think. Then ease the belt around the big pulley & gently move clockwise if the pulley is on the left side; anti clockwise if you are inserting on the right side. The belt will fall into place. Actually it is very simple.

Why does my kenmore washer 110 fill with water but won't wash or spin?

Do you happen to hear a humming noise coming from the machine after the tub fills? This might indicate that the motor is spinning, but the belt that connects the motor to the rest of the machine works is broken. It is located underneath the washer. Tip the washer a bit and have a look. If it's broken, you'll probably find the belt laying on the floor. Take that to an appliance parts store where they can match it up with a new one. Installation is not too difficult. The belt will go around the motor pulley, the transmission pulley, the water pump, and in some cases, a spring-loaded tensioner. I hope this helps! :) -Jason

Kenmore Series 80 washer doesn't always spin, only 1/3 of time.

First of all check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:

If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely,if it's frozen or stiff, replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt.

If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.
