Re: zenith C13A02D v-chip disable
Here is the link for the user manuals from zenith - they dont have one for your exact model, but if you type in C13A03D you will get a manual - page 34 details all the v-chip settings and should be nearly identical to your model at least;
Hope this helps - please post again if not :)

V-chip Block TV- 14 - this is a rating for movies and TV programs. Basically means PG-13 like the old movie theater rating.
lsv- means, language, ***, violence.
You TV can be set to block these programs. In you menu look for a catagory called "locks" or "ratings"
there you will find the options of what can be veiwed and what will be blocked. if you everything to be available, just disable all settings. if you want to choose different things to be allowed, just click on the icons and they become blocked.
If that function was put in use by the previous owner, the fastest way to change the parental lock out would be to contact your friend and get the access code from them.
Since the set probably uses a bit of flash memory to store the access code and other settings, if an individual chip, that would have to be physically removed and replaced.
If you can locate service information on your set, it will likely contain a procedure to set the memory back to factory default.
This is from the soundstorm website:
If your DVD player shows a "Parental Code" on the screen. Here is the factory default code. It is 3308.
Once you have this code, you can go into the settings and change the level to whichever level you like.
Here is a break down of the levels:
Level 1 = G Rated
Level 3 = PG Rated
Level 4 = PG 13 Rated
Level 6 = PG-R Rated
Level 7 = NC-17
Level 8 = Adult
Level 0 = No Parental
