Installed new Brother black and yellow catridges. Closing door, message: 'reInstall BK slowly'. Did remove the cyan and magenta as well, and reinstalled all four cartridges. Message. 'No cartridge, install BK,Y,C,M' To be quite sure, I installed four brand new Brother cartridges. Closed door, and sadly enough same message. Printer has only made abt 1400 prints. Guess solution might be in 'Maitenance' section? Does anyone have a suggestion for me?

Take all carts out of the machine. Have a look into the cart holder. Is there ink swapping beneath the white plastic? (You might shake the machine ;-)
If yes, the cart holder leaks and needs replacement.
If not (your lucky!) it could be that the automatic cleaning procedure which starts when a cart is changed has soaked the carts empty.
Do set machine with date and time and NEVER unplug NOR use a power switch which breaks the power supply.
Do use constant power and switch off machine by pressing stand-by-fax-button!
Everytime when machine comes to (new) power contact it runs an extensive ink cleaning procedure. thats why your carts are always near empty....
The stand-by will prevent this and machine does some cleaning procedures which consumes only a few drops(!) of ink!
The display asks you if you have changed the carts. Do answer this question by pressing 1 for YES or 2 for NO.
This will reset the built-in inkcountermanagement to the correct settings

I guess you d used generic ink carts?!
If yes, the cart holder needs replacement due to ink that has stained the led control. The ink has made a short circuit. The error can only be deleted by replacing the whole cart holder!

On the front of the cartridge there is a sight tube for the ink, the fax shines a light through this tube to detect the ink.
I wraped a piece of paper around the tube to block the light beam on all the cartridges.
I dont need a processer to tell me if the machine is out of ink, I can work thay out when it stops printing!!
Now tell me you are out of ink you peice of electronic ****.

The tape method worked for me on my 1960C. I put duct tape over the window in the front. If there's a place you can see ink, cover it up.
