What are the solutions for hp netbook 1000 that stopped charging?

The battery seems to be good, in that it powered the unit for a day, but will not charge now. Is there a way to discover if it is a) the battery, b)the internal circuitry/power supply or c) the power cord/transformer? Thanking you in advance

POWER SUPPLY & BATTERY PROBLEM
If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

SOURCE: hp compaq nx7400 - battery died and power cord will not turn comp

If your system won't boot up with just the AC adapter connected, it means to say that there's a problem with the AC adapter or the motherboard of the computer. Basically, if the AC adapter or the motherboard is damaged, you won't get a charged battery. If there's another AC adapter that you can try your computer with then that will be great. If antoher AC adapter works, then you just have the AC adapter replaced. If a known AC adapter didn't work then you may need to consider replacing the motherboard of the computer.

SOURCE: hp pavilion dv8000 help

I had the EXACT same issue on my HP Pavilion DV8000. After reading this thread I started disecting the machine, sure the issue was a faulty internal power plug/cable. It is TRULY a big job, but very doable without special tools. You pretty much have to take every single screw out of the thing to get to that stupid cable.

Here are a few things to know:
1) there are a lot of screws - mainly long black (L 12) and short silver (L 5x2.5). Keep track of all of them in order so you don't end up like me - with 3 leftovers. Lol. There is ONE long black screw that is a little shorted than the others (L 10). This is one I had left over. There are two VERY tiny black ones. I also have one of those left over. There is also a few smaller black ones, too. Just keep them all noted as you remove them and remember where these odd ones go!
2) There are some very flat band cables that plug in to tiny plgs. However thereis no plug on the cable. The flat end just shuves into the plugs. These are very delicate. be gentle with them.
3) When you finally get the housing for the fan loose you can now get to the entire power supply cable. Here is a note: I FIXED my problem by unplugging this cable and plugging it back in. The cable runs under the fan housing, and it seems like you have to remove that housing to get to the cable, but actually it comes out again right next to the processor and heat sink. There is a thin sheet of black sticky insulator tape over the processor and the cable at that point. You'll have to gently remove it. There is not much room there, but you CAN unplug the cable without removing the entire fan housing.

Here is what I did to test this plug and cable. After unplugging it, I shoved a tiny straightened staple (the female plug is very tiny) into the female receptacles for the prongs on the motherboard (red and black only). Then I plugged the power supply in to the power jack. With a DC meter I verified that the female end of the power cable inside the machine was getting juice, and it was.

With nothing left to test, I put it all back together (save three screws) and it is now charging the battery and running from the ad power plug. Whatever I did fixed it!

One last note: There are 4 sequenced screws that hold the heat sink tight. These are under a bit of pressure so the sink is tight. DO NOT remove these as the sink has a heat conducting "goo" that helps it disperse the processor heat. As old as these machines are now, you don't really want to disrupt that "goo" and risk the processor over heating.

I hope all of this typing helps someone.

My hp mini just shut off on me and i cannot get it back on

The first thing that I try with a situation like this is:

1) Remove power cable from unit.
2) Remove battery from the bottom of the unit.
3) Attempt to power the unit on without any power going to it (unplugged.. no battery..it won't turn on obviously.. but that's what we want.)
4) Plug power cable back into it and test. If it works, reinsert the battery and thats it!

Good luck!

My hp mini 1000 will not turn on. When I plug it in the light on the side will not say it is charging. It will not charge.

Hi,

Here are some steps that can help you resolve the issue.

First, try removing the ac adapater and the battery and press and hold the power button for about 10-15 secs to remove the flea power. Then try to deattached the power cable and the power brick and attach it again properly, plug it to the computer without the battery and try to turn on the computer. If still the same problem try a good known power socket, if your using power strip try to plug it directly to the wall socket. If nothing works, try a good known ac adapter, or try you ac adapter to a good known working computer. If a good known ac adapter didnt work, contact HP as this is a power supply issue on the computer (power supply are mostly attached to motherboard for portables) contact HP to check your warranty and have it serviced. If the good known ac adapter works, contact HP to check the warranty and have the AC adapater replace or simply replace the ac adapter.

I hope this will be able to help you.

Thank you for choosing Fixya.

Possibilities are inmense, first make sure that your power supply is working, remember that its what charge the whole thing up. if power supply is not giving the right voltage the the lithium battery is not charging. You may have to take it to your local computer shop yo check it

When I boot up all I get is a white screen

With an extensive use of the notebook,
some times notebook would store some static charges which
indeed will stop the notebook from powering up or charging
the battery. The procedure to remove this static charges from
the notebook is known as power drain. Performing a power
drain procedure will not effect any personal data or delete
any pictures from the hard drive on your notebook.
I recommend you use Power Drain procedure by following these
steps:

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

Please help me on my hp pavilion tx 2000 netbook... the keyboard stopped working.I tried the battery removal solution but won't work.please give me advise on this. thanks!

We ran a typical HP Mini 1000 battery of tests, including games, applications, and a couple other areas. Time constraints limited the amount of testing we could get done before the NDA lift (and it's already a few hours late), but we will be providing a follow-up article with further testing and information. That said, if there are any specific areas that you'd like to see tested, feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment.

Need for speed 3 hot pursuit is a low graphic game but it is not working properly on my hp mini 210-1085Tu netbook.......plz suggest some solution for my problem.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, Netbooks computers are not made for games. You are lucky if you are able to make it work.

The only solution you may have, is to check for driver updates at the HP website and update the VIDEO driver.

The HP Mini 1000 Netbook usually do have an Intel graphics chip, check the game specifications is it works with Intel Chips.

Good luck.

Cannot power my netbook. Trouble getting a charge now cannot charge at all.

take out your battery and try plugging in just the netbook and see if it turns on then. If it does not it could be a problem with your power adapter. If it does turn on then your battery is probably bad.
